You're pissed off? What the hell am I going to do with all this baking
    stuff?

I'll have to show support at a different round. I was looking forward
to that one. Commiserations all round, I suspect this was going to be
a bit of an event for the team?

It's all down to bean counters, not wanting to take a chance IYAM.

If Motorsport 'Vision' lived up to their name, they should have
run the first one as a loss leader, hyped it up properly and got the
punters in to balance the books. Instead, I suspect they simply
charged KRC the standard rate, thus putting the race out of most
current teams budgets. Guaranteeing a low competitor count and
    scuppering the whole caboodle.

Which is a shame. Handled properly with the correct promotion and
low enough prices for the competitors, a 24 hour race could become
a big thing, IMHO, clearly. Run it for a couple of years, then
get the big continental teams interested and bobs related to your
mother, they could grow it into a fairly prestigious event.

    I'm mightily pissed off. :-<

Ever noticed how time flits by or drags on for ages? Get 24 hours,
line 'em up and set 'em going.

Hmmm, what do you reckon it costs to stage something like this?

Hmm...I wonder if they have actually been to a proper 24 hr race -
    Bandol anybody?

Alternately - running a race with 20 starters, and therefore less than
10 finishers, would have looked so half-arsed that no one would have
    given it a second chance.

    Suzuka is eight, innit?[/QUOTE]

Yes, but I was specifically talking about Snett.

They run the Suzuka 8 hour so that the last couple of hours are in the
dark. If it didn't add such extra complication/expense, I reckon that
might be a reasonable compromise for Snett this time.

I entirely agree. Which is why I went on to suggest a possible solution.
You know, the bit you snipped.

Well, a rough guess, if Motorsport required 50 entries and KRC were
charging £1250 per seat. Say something around the £65k mark, for the
    race alone?

If they dropped the entry price by 50%, they'd say, need to take a gate
of around 4000 people to recoup their costs. But then there'd be all
the ancillary costs of proper promotion and laying on other attractions
etc. So I figure they'd need to go for a gate of what, say 10,000?
I've no idea of what the cost of promotion, etc, would be, the above is
a wild guess. But surely there must be enough bike racing fans in the
country to come along and support a properly run event. Look at all the
Brits who used to go down to the Bol, who do go over to Le Mans etc.

Would 10 000 people actually fit into Snetterton? IMO, that's the biggest
problem from a crowd POV - the venue, not the event.

It's not a great circuit to go watch a race at.

Could one argue that might be a logical first step? "Little steps", rather
than trying to do a whole 24 hour race first out...
