    Correct.

The vast majority of traffic offences are criminal offences, because they
are defined by legislation as being criminal offences.

For example, some parking offences are defined as criminal offences by the
    Road Traffic Act 1991.

Speeding is defined as a criminal offence by Section 89(1) of the Road
    Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Yes, because the premium you pay is linked to the probability of your
making a claim or being claimed against, and their actuaries will have
worked out that those with a speeding conviction are statistically more
    likely to do so.

This is completely different to what effectively amounts to a tax on fines,
which is uttely despicable. The fact that the gov't has clearly actually
sat down and worked out how much money they can expect to make from this
tax over the next 12 months is even worse.

  3. Surely, in the words of all the financial gurus, "past performance is not
necessarily an indicator of future performance"? The point I am making, is
quite simply that I haven't claimed and have points and therefore pay a
premium, yet someone who has no points but a worse claims record can
actually end up paying less for a comaprable vehicle. You'll be telling me
next that women should pay less insurance! :)

Not to mention the dangers regarding sausage rolls:

    snip
But omits the points actuaries might have the acumen and acuity of
    construction materials........

SWMBO won 3 points for an SP30 last year in her cage
I've experienced her driving loads of times. She's nippy but she's actually
good ~ despite the absence of the Y or 'motor-related' chromosome. (Well
going 'round the roundabout near home on two wheels without really thinking
about it as a near daily event at least showed high level of dexterity type
skills, beside she's stopped doing this since the old health authority took
    their mini back off her).
Most of her mates and colleagues drive between about 60% and 75% of her
speed and make continence a thing of the past with their sheer nupty know
fk-all non-awareness and lack of all basic skills.
You would *not* want to be in or on a vehicle they had what might -
laughingly - be called control of.

Yet SWMBO's 3 points added 27%! to the cost of having her name on my cage
    insurance.
Bollocks does one SP 30 provide an accurate indicator of a 27% greater risk.
And like I say - she's way less likely to stack it than her comparators (tho
admittedly IF she did it would involve more kinetic energy)

Its all a con. The Government rolled out the "Road user as gravy-train
bandwagon" and the fkn Insurers climbed right on while chuckling and rubbing
their sweaty little graspy hands ~ Just like Tony and his cronies come to
    think of it.
