I would say it's harder (because dividing by 8 is harder than dividing by
    10) and not that much more accurate within the realms of legal speed limits,
    i.e. if you're think you're doing 70 at 116kph you're actually doing ~73mph.

WTF is all this either/or shit? Cars have had speedos marked with both
scales since loon pants were cool. Surely it's not beyond the wit of man to
    make bike speedos the same?

The Wing[1] and the Blackbird[2] both do.

    The seventies relics don't, afaik.

[1] KPH main, mph secondary, natch.

[2] Speedos with "300" on them do look a bit silly, really.

UK ones do but do import cars really have mph marked on them as well as
    kph?

I've driven several LHD Landrovers which had kph only speedos.

Certainly the Guzzi and MZs don't. I use the numbers on the dial same as
numbers on the sign method when abroad.

  9. Curiously, nor does my Ducati 750SS (1997 model). It's mph only. ISTR
something in MCN[1] about this actually being against C&U regulations
    and a theoretical moT fail.

    [1] So probably bollocks

The MOT and C&U are separate things; being in contravention of the C&U
doesn't necessarily mean an MOT failure and vice versa.

As others have said, most UK bikes would have, yes, but you're
obviously forgetting the more modern bikes with digital speedo
readouts. Be a bit difficult to get it to read both at the same time.

Talking of which, does anyone know how to switch the gixxer to mph?
Not that I really need[1] to even if/when I'm in the UK on it, just
    curious like.

[1] On the basis that a) I can convert it im my head and b) I don't
give a toss, as Swiss plates don't care about UK speed cameras.

I've got about four, actually[1]. These Swiss don't mess about with
only one. But I don't recall it mentioning this.

[1] English, French, German and Italian.

Euro spec R1s and R6s can't be changed to MPH, they are KMH only. I'm
not sure if this applies to Euro spec Gixxer Thous too.

Personally, I've changed my view. I always was very pro one Europe but
of late it is becoming more and more obvious that the EU is now simply a
mechanism to open and liberalise markets both commercial and labour; it's
    no longer about its citizens.

Although this is putting me in the same camp as Rabid of Tunbridge Wells
and Trot of Islington - certainly something I'm extremely uncomfortable
with - I'll have to live with it. Bigger picture and all that.

I would have a lot more faith in the EU if, once they'd made the rules
the main players[1] didn't change or ignore them when it suits them[1]
Copy of the Daily Mail Sir?

[1] France and Germany seem to be the worst offenders.

I am surprised you have only just reached that conclusion, it has been
written in from the very beginning.

For that you are going to need the Union of Democratic European States.
