Ah, thanks. Now, if I can find the right size...

You get a 10% discount if you ride to the store, plus you can buy a "I
rode there" T-shirt with a picture of the warehouse on it, that they
    don't sell via mail order.

    erm, 2080 miles...40mpg...50gallons@$4/gal...
That's only $200 in gas money alone to get there, for a $5 discount.
    I'm in!

The Aldi/Lidl stuff isn't bad - I've had their boots, trousers, jackets,
gloves. They are a bit sticky in hot weather and not entirely leakproof
in a downpour. But they wear quickly and they aren't as cheap as all that
    - probably you would get just as much bang for buck at Hein Gericke (if
you play their discount game) and it's a better place to spend your money.

    My Aldi tankbag is excellent.
Indeed. Also, you probably don't know how to look after it - better to
have a cheap first set to throw away.

  8. Probably they leak at the top but not the bottom. You could try drilling
    drainage holes....

Personally, my MX boots get wet mostly from sweat; I rarely ride in the
rain and neither of the tracks I visit have river obstacles.

That's the Varnsverry I was making, innit - in response to "you get
what you pay for" from SR. Not only does the Law of Diminishing
Returns kick in, there's a lot of decent cheap gear about - and some
    rather expensive shite.

Just don't get them near velcro hooks. Tears them up good and proper. I
get through about three sets a year.

So: Thomas's deerskin is superior, because "2.75+ oz. U.S. deerskin is
    more abrasion-resistant than cowhide"

But, hey! Elkskin is /even /betterer.

Who's going to come up with "naturally abrasive" sharkskin gloves -
"Wear the road away as you slide down it - get your own back".

Would a cheap car protect you as well as a cheap car would? This is
    the question, see.

Held Phantoms have Stingray skin on the palms and knuckles - it's
fucking tough stuff and probably would wear away tarmac

Deerskin is so soft and cuddly, I can see how people have leather
    fetishes. Dunno 'bout elks.
Problem is, after you've shredded one road, it's big brother round the
    bend will kick your ass.
