  1. About half a mile away from the flash to the bang. Getting really good
it is. Just grey and pissing rain wet and no wind and this steadily
building storm that is going right over the top of me. I am off to get
me camera out. I hope it lasts another ten minutes.

  2. The secret of taking pics of lightning is to leave the lens open and shut it
    after the flash.

    Apparently...

If it's the same storm that came with me to Sweden, it'll last another 3
    fucking days.

    Lol!

We left Brands at 8pm last night and were treated to the
most spectacular lightning show I've ever seen. We must
have followed the storm heading north into Essex as it
carried on overhead as we unpacked the car and trailer,
still lighting the sky at 9.30pm when I finally sat down
    for a beer.

Post the pics up as you had plenty of chances to
    get some decent shots.

No I didn't. It was all right on top of us and all we got was the whole
sky lighting up from above the clouds, just the whole world going white
for a tenth of a second or so. It seemed to be all upper atmosphere
cloud to cloud stuff and no ground to cloud. I didn't see a single
discrete spark and the camera saw even less.

  7. With the smallest possible aperture. Tho' I suspect steve was
talking about a video camera, given his recent enterprise.

If you want nature, you ought to take one of those storm chaser
vacations in the mid-west (here of course).

Who wants some poxy merkin storm on video? If I want to waste my life
encouraging other people to watch watching moving pictures of someone

Well if you are talking about the storms we get these days then yes it
is hard to disagree. Not a patch on the ones we had when I were a lad.
I mean, you take yer flash floods. We didn't have none of that here
today and gone tomorrow stuff that you get now, we had proper floods we
did. Whole towns and villages would be cut off from civilisation for
days or weeks at a time.

Take it from me laddie, we knew how to be the unwitting victims of
nature at it's worst and grateful for it we were too.
