Renewal came through today. Sucked air in, thought "That's steep" and rang Bennetts. Who came up with a policy with the same insurer (Equity Red Star), lower excesses, and *half* the Aunty price. **** me. Not much contest there, then. -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - "He's hopeless, but he's honest" I have already made the greatest contribution to the fight against climate change that I can make: I have decided not to breed. Hm. Ebike has just come up with a good quote for my 'modern' bikes. Can't help thinking Auntie Carole's new owners are milking the system, as it were.
All the guys I know that were with Auntie, have had a shock and moved away, some after many years loyalty. Seems that once they have no customers left they may try and be a bit more competitive. I found Aquote to be exceptional last year, I wonder what will transpire in November come renewal time. -- Greybeard FLHR -03 UK (95 cu-in Stg 2. Big Boy 2!) ERS have a terrible reputation. I do everything to avoid them and Bennetts. This year I went with Ebike & got a separate breakdown policy for the clique run to Europe. Worked out about £40 cheaper plus the car is covered too.
(The Older Gentleman) wrote in Thought not. Might be worth checking to see if your car policy gives it for cars only or covers bikes too. Seems to vary with underwriter.
Ask them about adding it, they have a sister company that should be able to do the same policy with it on.
ERS used to underwrite the BMW scheme but were dumped in favour of NIG. Loads of anecdotes about document ****-ups & poor claims service at the hands of ERS. NIG on the other hand, seem to be quite well received.
Carole Nash insued me for a couple of years with ERS and I made a couple of (non-fault) claims and they were okay, but I guess that's because Auntie C did all of the admin. It's a shame AC got so uncompetitive on price though so I ended up having to move to another company to get a sensible quote.
Oh joy, I've got two renewals coming up in a few weeks (the bikes and the 911) and both policies are with AC. Guess I better check who else offers some competitive cover.
I insured through CIA insurance who matched Ebike's quote, excess, green card, protected NCB etc *and* included third party for other peoples bikes. I ended up with an NU policy. I haven't any experience of making a claim [1], although they have been pretty efficient when dealing with renewals, change of insurers etc. Even to the point of responding promptly (same day) to e-mailed documents. http://www.cia-motorcycle-insurance.co.uk/ I tried getting an on-line quote from Carole Nash and all I got was a fucking rude cold caller about fifteen minutes afterwards. -- Chris H FZS1000, two#55 When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane. They're renewal this year was shit. However, my brother who was insured on the Bonneville no longer wanted to be so I then moved back to a multibike policy. They were then cheaper by a couple of quid than the next best and strangely having told me they couldn't do multirider and multibike on the same policy, my brother is still there now insured on both bikes.
I got the impresssion that relying on punter inertia was a fundamental component of many modern businesses. - Mobile phones - Savings banks - Insurance .... If you are already with them *the business plan* is to screw you over. A few will I believe backpedal when you actually tell them to piss off, however there will I imagine be loads of new customers since all their competitors are of course doing the same thing.
Try phoning carol back. They gave me a high quote, I phoned around, got a much lower one, then phoned them back and they beat it.
It seems that their policies vary widely between brokers. I got my 4 bikes below on a multibike for 130 quid with CIHAGM via the AA. Avoid Auntie Carole, they take the piss.
Hmm, people keep saying that but at least in the recent past that didn't work for me at all - they wouldn't match other companies' quotes but rather showed a superiority complex that IMHO is a little misplaced these days.
