Starring SeanH, Whinging Courier and me.

What a bloody lovely long ride that was.

We met in Royal Tunbridge Wells, bimbled around and then hooned to
Eastbourne, Hastings and finished off in Rye.

Denim Jacker & Jeans weather it was.

P.S. Does anyone make extra-loud motorcycle horns? I was *almost* an
unfortunate victim of a rather unfortunate high-speed SMIDSY and I'm
sure if I had a louder horn then they would have heard me from further
    away.

I suppose it would have to work from a normal B6 battery.

I high frequency next to a lower frequency one would probably do the
    business.

BMW fit Fiamm horns to the K100/K1100/K75 and these are very loud. Two
horns, one high, one low. They turn up on ebay from time to time for
    about ten quid.

Just go into Halfrauds. They do a Ring copy of the FIAMM pair of horns
for around £20. I just fitted a set to the RS as the originals were
looking tatty. **** ME are they loud, better than the originals. I've
had some fun with geriatrics dawdling in the overtaking lane since.
    Several cardiac arrests I expect.

I was down in Rye yesterday, around 10:30. Someone hadn't managed to
avoid what you describe and was being put in an ambulance as we went by.

To be fair, looking at the daamge to the car, it looked more like the
bike had tried using the middle lane whilst overtaking and had got it
wrong and gone off the wing. But who knows.

The bike (ZX-10R) looked surprisingly good considering the damage to
    the car :)

I was in The Bike Park as the ambulance went past.

    <thinks>

Err. Actually, that must have been a different ambulance as I wasn't
in Rye at 10:30 - I was in Royal Tunbridge Wells. Someone must have
gone ping in the afternoon at about 14:00 too.

  16. Many people admired my big horn until one day I rear-ended some old
Frenchy and it was reduced to a shadow of its former self. Was nothing
but a sad squeak after that.

The way I got overtaken by a bike[1] on the Lydd/Camber road I'm not
surprised. I was astounded, though as he managed to pull it off [2] I
guess it must have been safe.

[1] Black ZX-10, no number plate.
[2] only because I, and the car that came round the blind bend[3], gave
him a bit of room by testing out the ABS.

[3] the old "what are the odds of something coming round this
    corner...Oh. Dear."

    Isn't it just.

What are the regs regarding missing numberplates? If you leave a corner
hanging and give it the old "it was there a minute ago officer" line
will they let you ride on and replace it or impound the vehicle until
    it's fixed.

I got done for no numberplate about 4 years ago. Unless things have
changed, it's a non-endorsable fixed penalty (40 quid IIRC) and no
points + a vehicle rectification notice i.e. you have to put on a
legal plate and present it at your local nick.

I have been told if you have it happen a few times, they can issue a Q
plate for the bike, but I'm not sure if this is apocryphal or not.
