  1. That was nice. Met up with a few friends, wandered about, talked the
    usual bollocks.

Bargain of the bikes for sale was a 1998 naked Bandit, in black, 17k
miles, and so clean you wouldn't believe. The more you looked, the more
you saw it had been owned by a thoughtful bod. Thus extras included a
Baglux cover/tank bag holder, chromed oil cooler protector, front
mudguard extender, rear hugger, crash bungs, Scottoiler, stainless steel
    exhaust system.

Up for £1400 ono. Hugely tempting.

I managed to buy a new rear tyre for Jamie's CD125 for all of £19, a
pair of new tyres for the SL125 for £59, and spent another tenner on two
tubes of Solvol and a can of chain lube. Oh, and six quid got an aerosol
of heat resistant paint and a ditto of brake cleaner.

John, with me, found he could get three large rolls of gaffa tape for a
    fiver.

There was a gorgeous Triton up for sale, using a Triumph GP engine: all
alloy, developed from the Trophy 500 ex-genny lump, apparently. Never
seen one before. Seems the lugs on the side of the barrel are where the
cooling fan used to bolt on. Lovely looking sort of brick-square engine.

Worth a few hours of anyone's time.....

Did you notice whether it had the bronze head fitted?

  3. All alloy, as far as I could see. I did take a picture of it, though.

    The
Tin covers, not the actual fan.

Lovely looking sort of brick-square engine.
    *The* bronze head ???

Nice. A friend's father had at least two of those engines, one of which
had a bronze top. If I see my friend I'll have to ask what happened to
    them.

I remember seeing that engine/bike in bits in the shed, and pictures
of Alec racing it, prewar (?), at Brands.

Probably just post war. He was one of the invited riders who tested it
after it was tarmac covered and made into a clockwise circuit. I think
he had something like six or seven gear boxes of different ratios for
selected tracks. I saw the engine after it had been internally polished
    and rebuilt.

  8. It's a handsome engine: no arguments.

  9. I like the 500 Triumph lumps - possibly because that's the size they
should be and consequently feel so much nicer than the stretched ones.

That's about the going rate, I sold my low mileage P plate to Ben
Sales's brother for 1400 quid, and my mate over the road also picked up
a 600 around the same age for 1400 quid - but this one only had 700
    miles on the clock....

My 98 R plate 600 will be for sale soon. I won't be wanting anywhere
near that though. I don't think anyone on ukrm would want it though,
    they all know its history.
