It's council property, I'm not sure if they'll approve.

Eh? Why ask? It's the right of every free born Briton to keep
motorcycles in the hallway and coal in the bath.

    Just do it.
Just leave it out with the keys in it; somebody will.

Just ask them if they refuse to allow you to bring it indoors. Personally i
think youre mad trying to get a scooter indoors as it'll be a pain in the
ass. If they are half way reasonable at all then the should allow you to fit
an anchor i would have thought?

Grimly Curmudgeon bored us all completely to death with wittery prose
    along the lines of:
That's why, in France, all new scooters have to be registered and have
licence plates. Well, one reason, anyway...

Yeah, probably but I don't favour the anchor option because I know that
the kids will still be all over it.

Ffs, it's only a scooter; you should be glad to be shot of it.

Trying to do it proply. I've sprayed it with smoothrite gold believe it or
not and it looks the mutts. It's very bling. I still have about 3 weekends
of spraying and then the great rebuild can begin. I have some fairly bad
phone photos of the finished frame if you want to see them.

I still think it may be May before it hits the road again. Will have to use
    the XJ till then. Woe
    is me!

looking too good at the moment, looks like i need a new frame :-/

That's not so good, Lamby bits cost a feckin' fortune. Bad luck 'bout the
test by the way. What happened with your court case? Has it happened?

What? What have licence plates got to do with theft?

Most do, but the last parts fair i went to actually had 2 that were sat on
stalls at only £40 each! If I'd been in the car i'd have bought one, as it
was i was on the vespa and I didn't think that the rear rack would cope :)
I *could* have it repaired in italy at Rimini Lambretta for a mere £90
    though.

As for the test, well, shit happens, i'll try harder next time ;-)

And as for court, well, basically im off to court on the 2nd feb and it'll
probably be adjourned for a later date as im pleading not guilty

Easier to trace amongst other things. Apparently these things get
stolen all the time, surprise, surprise.

  14. Why am I not surprised that you swallowed the 'official line' ?

Scooters and 'mobylettes' now have to be registered as from 01 July 2004
(Article 19, Law N° 2001-1062 of 15 November 2001), as before, the little
fuckers found it too easy to run red lights, refuse right of way, and go up
one-way streets the wrong way, knowing that they could scarper without
fearing the long arm of the law, as they were untraceable.

As this appears to use standard sized shotgun cartridges , it wouldn't be
beyond the realms of possibility to use live rounds instead of blanks?

I still don't see it. If you're a kiddie looking for a ride in the park,
what do you care? If you're a crook, looking to sell it you'll use a
    false registration of some sort.

Or maybe it's just some weird French thing: did those strange folk used to
regularly buy and use unregistered vehicles?

In the UK there'll be a certain number of people buying small trail-bikes
and the like, which won't be registered but not much else, and not normal
    road-going scooters.

True, but if it's registered, it makes it that much more difficult.
Anything less than 50cc, I suppose so.
As I said though, it's not the only reason that this has been brought
in. The main reason is to stop the little fuckers taking the piss on
the roads (and pavements) and getting away with it.
