It sounds as if Kawasaki are on a mission to make all owners
suspension experts by sending them out badly set up. My 10R was
nothing short of scary until I'd finally sorted it out and when you
consider that the book claimed it was set up for someone my weight
    that's not a good thing.

Luckily there's a wealth of sites out there telling muppets like me
what to do or mine would certainly be a lot worse than when I
    collected it.

And don't forget there's quite a lot of suspension and brake difference
between the 750 and the 1000, it's not just the engine capacity,
    exhausts and trim.
You clearly have better hanging on skills than me. I suspect you were in
leathers too, so no fabric flapping about causing drag...
There's no paint flaking, it's true, but there's a few bits of rust dust
appearing and that's with cleaning and FS365. The bike's just showing me
    the bits I've missed, obviously!

Perhaps I'm just used to Harley's higher standards :)
Once I'd though it through, the snotoiler install was pretty easy. Shall
    I e-mail you pics?

I cleaned the carb bowls and plugs on the 100RS last night and hit the
starter button. After sitting for 4 months it fired within seconds.
IMHO, with the ignition coil and regulator replaced/updated and a
Hawker sealed gel battery, an R100 Mono is probably the most reliable
    bike in the world, ever.

If you go to the bother of taking and sending the photos, any chance of putting
them on a web page somewhere or a Cc: to me on the email me as well?

Have you seen the Kawasaki "engine protectors" (crash bungs) on a z750(s)?
Since everyone thinks I'm likely to drop it at some point, I've been thinking
about putting these (or R&G alternatives) on it right from the start.

As the proud owner of something green, I'll reiterate my comments about
    metallic primer.

I will do on one condition...
....that being you are not as indecisive about the bungs as you have been
    about the Zed!

I saw the Kawa ones at the show. Looked smart, but pricey. I'm not
convinced that they'll stop much damage either.

Similarly the R&G alternatives. I talked to them at the show and they
showed me the bungs. £65 or so. They pointed out that for full drop
protection I needed the bungs, the paddock stand bobbins, the front axle
    bobbins and the handlebar ends.

Conspicuously they had paddock bobbins in ally for £8, or paddock
bobbins in bung plastic for £25. "So why are these £25 and those £8?"
"Ah, these are made of crash bung material..."

Yes the R&G ones were nicely made, but it was getting on for £140 for a
set and I still wasn't convinced if I dropped it whilst stationary
nothing else would get hurt. I'm also working on the basis that if I do
drop it, chances are it will be at more than walking pace. Considerably
    more :-(

  9. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Gyp amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
    A drop's a drop - upto about 5mph.

Anything faster than that is a crash.

As I sort of mentioned somewhere else, they're not there on the 750.

Congratulations. You've just added another name to the ever growing
list of those that want to dismember you and feed the bits to the

I was browsing the Givi catalogue so I stuck Z1000 into the search thingy..
They do one too. The one piece looks nicer than that Vario

    It's £83 or there about. I'm guessing it fits to the stock mountings;
undo 4 bolts, swap, do up 4 bolts.

    Shame the Z1000 screen doesn't fit the Z750 :-(

I got an MRA for the Vstrom
    (http://www.bikehps.com/mra/variotouringscreens.html from here).

Quality is excellent, it did exactly what it said it would (and also made
the bike rideable for me) and it was easy to fit.

I know it's not the same bike but from a manufacturer perspective I'd
    definitely recommend them.

No, sorry. It's listed as a fitment for the girl's version of the Z but
no piccies on the Givi.it site.

You need to register to see the pics. The first one is the Z1000 pic off the
    Givi site.

    Afraid so.

The bit of plastic under the 1000 screen is not the same as the bit of
    plastic on the 750.

I'm not entirely sure of the difference, but the 750 screen has to mount
differently. You need to drill the plastic, but not in the same places
    as on the 1000.

The front mudguards are the same though!
