Kawasaki Z750 twin

    I came by one of these "by distress" . I know they are fairly crap, but just
    how crap are they? My mate says "Kawasaki were famous for their fours".
    some one else says "with all those balancer shafts, they pull great
    wheelies". Used bike guide says what an odd engine , the power of a 400 ,
    the fuel consumption of a 900.
    Bikes a 78 I think

    Surprisingly torquey, vibrate further up the rev range despite the
    balancer shafts, drink petro, and have a too-small fuel tank, handle OK,
    shite brakes.

    A mate had one years ago. Top whack is little over a ton.

    Only rode one, also a mate's years ago. I remember it being much as
    you describe....faster than an XS650, but much more vibratory. Felt a
    lot like a 750 Triumph with better (comparatively) brakes....

    Rode one to Cornwall from London in about 1979, not all that bad as I
    remember bit vibey, not fast, an improvement on the TS 185 I had at the time
    though !!

    I spotted one on the way to work this afternoon parked up in Lydiate - it
    looked like it had been well looked after. I haven't seen one for years
    so found myself a little distracted as I tried to get a good look at it.

    I saw one today!. Overtook it on the M6. It was shiny. Very shiny. So shiny,
    I would place money on the owner having a problem with magpies.

    It shone. Finished in that dark browny-red that used to grace Kawas, with
    gold detailing on the tank. It looked to be fitted with the original pipes
    too, or at least an excellent facsimile of them.

    Actually a rather beautiful looking bike. I recall reading in
    UMG/UBG/similar that these bikes were popular in America, and canny dealers
    over here are now snaffling good condition ones up, giving them a service,
    valet and MOT then flogging them off at quite high prices.

    Seems the engine was popular as an alternative to Brit twins and the XS650
    with the hard tail crew too.

    I know someone near me who has one. Despite all the warnings I could
    give him, he's determined to restore it.
