Ok, so the workhorse has decided its wartime and has extinguished 2 bulbs in the
rev counter, and one bulb in the speedometer housing. My question being, does
anyone know, after unscrewing the only obvious screw at the bottom of the clock
housing, how you are meant to separate the nice plastic chromey effect base from
    the clock housing itself?

I remember I did attempt to remove this after the first bulb blew about 6 months
ago, and now that the others have decided to go on war duty, have realised why I
gave up on the idea of trying to replace the bulb in the first place. So if
anyone out there has done this procedure on a Kawasaki ER5 C1, any advice would
    be appreciated. Thanks.

Blotto emerged from their own little world to say
BGN fell upon a technique to disassemble the clocks on an ER-5.

With the emphasis on /fell/ perchance?

    You'll need the following:

    1) 1xER-5 in perfectly good condition
    2) 1xPerfectly straight road
    3) 1xPerson on their way home from work

Put 3 on 1, travel along 2 until you find an area in need of a ditch.
    Create ditch.

ER-5 clocks are now open to service.

    HTH.

I think the Ambulance service were more useful to me when being
not-dead at the side of the road.

If you do it properly you will be able to open them up so they look
    like this:

After a bit of tinkering they look like this:

Once it's at this stage you can change the bulb:

    Secure:

    Good as new:

Once you've perfected this method of fixing then, and only then, will
    you be a real man.
