Kawa ZR750 problem - crunching noise.

Discussion in 'Motorbike Technical Discussion' started by Andrew T. Austin, Jul 13, 2003.

  1. I have a ZR750, about 12,000 on the clock, all in good order, except for one
thing. Recently, when pulling away (and on mostly changing gear) there is a
"crunching" or "grinding" noise and knocking/grinding coming from the area
    by my left foot.

The chain is fine, the sprockets are fine, when on the centre stand, the
noise cannot be produced. In typical fashion, when i took it to a mechanic
friend, the problem did not occur. The noise is not rhythmical, so doesn't
tally in with any rotating parts that i can think of, and although seems to
happen mostly when changing gear on pulling away, doesn`t appear to be the
    clutch.

    It is intermittent too.

    Any suggestions greatfully received,

    Thanks in advance,

    Andrew Austin.

  2. I've heard that sound when I push the gear shift lever very slowly, if I
just tap it into gear it's fine. Sounds like the gears meshing to me. I
assume this is what your hearing.
