Well, I wanted to kick the bloody great swag that was lying
beside your chair, but Clem reckoned kicking you wouldn't
wake you up - only make you grumpy when you finally did wake
up! So we left you to it!

Musta been a bloody good sleep-in! It was cold when we
    gave it to the fairy!

G, Poor Pat... they were such nice shoes too. Next we'll
    be calling him 'Twinkle Toes'

  5. Well his exhaust doesnt attract any attention.

Everyone get home OK? Got a couple of drops of rain on the return trip back
down the Putty, but not much.

His "exhaust" would never attract attention from ME Al!!

Sorry we didn't wake you Pete but there seemed no point seeing as a) you
only had 100km to get home and b) you'd drank 16-odd full-strength tinnies
    the night before!!

There was a gathering around you and I yelled out "leave him alone you
bastards" but then I realised they were trying to drop and pack up the
    marquee without disturbing you (oops!)
    Did they succeed?

I had a fantastic run home! Carved up a group of Harleys up the range on
Thunderbolt's (a guilty pleasure) and then had a beaut ride through
Ebor-Grafton with Ray Peake (faark he's quick! I thought the extra power
and better brakes of the 1100 would give me the advantage over his R100 but
he'd effortlessly catch me after every across-double-lines break I'd try to
    make).
Didn't see a copper the whole way (except one standing beside his car at
Walcha) and even the Lions Road was a hoot.
Got home and discovered there was a leg of lamb with roast veg and
asparagus with cheese-sauce in the oven and that I'd successfully taped
Battlestar Gallactica on the set-top box!
Heaven must be a bit like that.......
    Clem
(Thanks to the absent Boxer for organising the good company for the ride
and to GB, Pete, Al and Postman for the good company at the rally)

All in one piece, yeah. I took the road towards Clarence Town
out of Dungog, then took a right onto the road what said
Maitland. That turned out to be a *much* nicer bit of road
than the route I took coming up (right at the Raymond Terrace
McDonalds out to Clarence Town and on to Dungog - that road
was pretty crappy patches over patched bitumen and a lot
    of 80, 70, even 60 zones).

The road had maybe 1Km of patched patched bitumen somewhere
around Hilldale, and 200m of (smooth) dirt through the middle
of Paterson (a work in progress apparently), but otherwse it
was smooth and suitably bendy and fun.

After East Maitland, went through Kurri Kurri, down to
Freeman's Waterhole and popped out onto the freeway for a
bit. I dropped in to visit my grandmother at Ourimbah (she
was really badly burned a few years ago - they don't piss
about at the crematorium), then on-and-off the freeway
a couple of times inserting bits of Old Road as practical.

I did the Old Pacific Highway from Mt White down and, despite
the whingeing on some of the more power-ranger oriented
groups during the week, the new surface is really quite good.
No loose crap, etc, it was one of the better surfaces I'd
    ridden on all weekend.

No rain to speak of, a couple of spots here and there and
that was it. Didn't see a single bomber all day either,
    touch wood.

Much fun was had. Whens the next one?!

A couple of hours earlier, they had to put a special bend in the
breakfast line to divert it around Pete!

  11. Same here.
Ah, so you've gone from being a rally virgin to a rally slut!

I woke just in time to see the roof caving in, Clem. They said, "you'll be
right mate, just stay there." So I did.

I bummed three cups of coffee off the trailer troop beside us, Sharks, but
it only did as much as a quarter of one of yours!

It's funny how Postman Pat copped more flack for his shoes than Al did for
    his skirt!

Bloody good fun, can't wait for the next one.

When Pete is in Tassie, breakfast usually puts a few special bends in him.

  15. Well, we got the Cold Flame Rally coming up soon, on the Barry Way south of
Jindabyne just short of the Vic border. There will be a few heading down, I
might even have a solo pass that weekend. BYO everything except water.
Sharkey might even make that one, nah not likely. Pat???

I'm confused. I'm *sure* Pat said he'd be at Karuah, and
he *was* at Karuah. What gives?

I was being Pat for the weekend (Hammo said I could be whoever I
wanted) because i said I'd be there and wasn't. Headed out of Melbourne
Thursday feeling moderately crook, working on the asumption I could
only feel better. Unfortunately, it seemed to affect my ability to ride
even half decently, so rather than tackle the high country in a less
than fit state, i bunked for home.

It was a 450k round trip to convince myself i was sick, go figure.

You always reckon that you're going to come along to Wintersun, but you always
end up going to the IoM TT instead. Pucking fiker... and you have the nerve
    to call yourself a 'rider'.
