I used to fly every time the night turned into day. Summer or winter, I'd be
flying. A few of ushad a field in Darcy Lever, Boltin but I eventually
rented a field just off the East Lancs road near Leigh. Wel near the
    Greyhound roundabout actually.

As it turrned out, I got seriously pissed off with cunts in the end, so I
stopped flying regularly and did other things. I'd been flying heli's for
over 30 years by this time, (I got my first heli in 1974) but now I just fly
the ones I either build for someone, or those I set up to fly properly.
Local as in where? Haven't you moved darn sarf?

I have, I'm in Acton. The local field is behind Hammersmith Hospital.
I've been down there last couple of Saturdays and made myself known.
I'm still flying sims. I can't exactly devote all of my time to it,
since I've got a musical instrument to learn too.
Apparently there are no women that fly that field, which is sucky but
kind of expected I suppose. There are a few girls who go with the boys
and look long faced and suffering though.

If I stick it out I'm going to try and get people flying combat.

    I do, don't I?

I'm running peer guardian on a mac and it's killing all my ntp traffic.
I've got it set to sync to a euro time server, but it knows full well
that I'm in London and I can't work out why it's decided to skip an
hour. Especially since it can't talk to a server atm. Most odd.

I've only ever done slope combat, and that was a hoot. :) A lot of the
older folk didn't like us doing combat at all for some strange reason.

It must be something in the water oop 'ere. Bikes, toy heli's and music. All
    my own "things" too.
I taught my missus to fly heli's back in the late 70's. she was bloody good
too, but not quite as good as my son who really got into drag racing heli's.
That's the usual way of it. The wives and girlfriends come down to the field
a few time because "It's good", then the numbers decline, leaving the boys
to get on with things witout having to keep asking "You Ok dear"? :) And
when they get back home, dinner's waiting.
We used to fly combat heli's using 60 powered aerobatic heli's and woe
betide anyone who happened to either crash or land where other combatants
could see 'em. They were buzzed mercilessly (and dangerously) 'til tanks
    were run dry.

I'll tell you what though, it's fucking hard to actually hit another heli in
the air. Piss easy by accident, but not so when you're deliberately trying
to knock one out of the sky without knocking your own out at the same time.

Oddly, all the guys who did the combat thing we bike riders too.

Coz they can't understand how anyone can deliberately put a model in danger.
