K reg BMW K1 in black

I've voiced my reservations about these bikes a few times (ecu, coils,
plastics) but at this price it would be nice for someone within buying
range. As it's done 66k the ecu probably isn't going to fail anyway.

Possibly a respray but it looks a lot better in black. The only odd thing
about them is that mudguard but the conventional one fits as do aftermarket
    jobs.

The seat pods can be removed and standard K pannier rails fitted if
    preferred.

Bleedin' awful pictures: a black bike photographed in the shade... To
    be honest, I'd rather have a conventional 16v K100RS.

Brings back happy memories, that does.
I think it's an original black one because of the lack of colour
co-ordinated wheels and I think "K" was the first year of the black
colour option. However it doesn't seem to have the pearl effect finish
    the early black ones had.
The little pods at the back are useless. Fit rails asap.

AFAIK they were never officially available in black, so I'd have to
    agree with that.

What's your guess at how much it would be worth? I'm thinking about
    1750...

Not that I would bid on it, oh no. I vill rezizt!

    Then again, maybe not.

It did have a buy it now button for 1525 or somesuch, which seems to
    have evaporated. Go for it.

Just needs a touch of gold pin-striping for a Black Prince look...

Any idea if the fairing is significantly better than the K-RS wrt
turbulence/buffeting/wind noise? I was NOT impressed with my K, and was
actually thinking "perhaps the K1 is better . . " before I modded it.

I know the K1 is heavy and has a bit restricted swing radius, but then
it was designed for Autobahn use.

Thanks. Could have been interesting to try out that one, since I am
only 30 min away. But now before Xmas, I unfortunately don't have the
time before this auction ends. Not the optimal time to sell a bike on
    E-bay ? :))

Which is incidentally something that *some* of us are counting on.
