Decided to strip the zx6 and treat her to some acf-50. In doing so I
noticed the air filter is a k&n however it seems to be installed upside
down [1]. Does this restrict the airflow at all?

As im pretty new to bike mechanics anything else worth doing as I've got
the thing naked? Carbs been balanced already.

[1] I presume the this way up sign should be face up in the airbox, you
    never know.

As far as I know, K&N use a constant size of foam throughout their
product, so it will not make any difference which way up you fit it.

I know that Pipercross (which I use) uses different types of foam
in layers which filters different size particles (ie, large to start
    with
then smaller) so it does matter which way round you fit it.

Might be worth checking the instructions if you have them, or
check their website for an electronic version or more info?
