"One of the City's best-known fund managers has criticised US financial
regulators for failing to detect early an alleged $50bn (£33bn) fraud"

Mr Madoff is a bit of a fucking legend in his own lifetime!! hope he
managed to squirrel away something for the end of his jail term.

So Mr Madoff made off with the money. Who would have expected it?

Nice of her to point out that $50bn is a huge amount of money - just
in case any of the EKS are wondering what the fuss is about.

  5. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique,
Surely that implies that they're *not* great copies?

I find it incredible that people still get taken by Ponzi schemes,
    after all these years.

Anyone else remember Imperial Commodities, headed by some slaphead
called Justin de Frewen? I do, if only because we had a friend in
common. Some time in the early 1980s - a classic Ponzi scheme, and he
    did time for it.

"If it sounds too good to be true, it is." Goes for banking, Nigerian
scams, BMW owners' fuel consumption claims, you name it.
