We got a fine notification through for one of our heaps, and sent off a
cheque for £25. Cheque was returned to us with a note 'case closed'. Not
sure whether it was because we'd said fair enough and paid up. So you may
be lucky and get the cheque sent back to you.

Maybe to improve the vehicles on the road... or to make more money.

Either way, it seems good :)

I had a letter asking why I hadn't SORNed or taxed the CD. I phoned up,
pleaded disorganisation and apologised profusely. They amended the
record, and I sent a letter just in case ("I thought I'd declared SORN,
but if I haven't, I am now. Sorry and all that. love from Blaney").

Cos it's none of the governemnts fucking business what I do with my
vehicles if I'm not using them, nor where I keep my vehicles. They want
to know *too* fcuking much IMO, and fining me for not telling them is
    taking the fucking piss too.

    More backdoor taxation.

It's all on DVLA's database. I bought the bike after the tax had expired,
and never had to renew it because the bike hasn't been roadworthy[1].
DVLA wrote to me and said that the tax had run out on 30-4-03 and as I
hadn't renewed by now, I should have SORNd it. They told me I have til
the 19th to pay 25 quid, or the fine increases to 45 quid. Bunch of
    cunts.

[1] I bought it as accident damaged and haven't fixed it yet.

  10. When I had a similar thing with the CG125[1] due to a lack of tuits & MOT, I
wrote a grovelling letter pleading forgetfulness and then taxed ASAP, heard
    no more.

  14. But what has that got to do with Lozzo keeping it in his back garden
    and *not* on the road?

And, for that matter, why the **** does paying a tax make a car legal?
Just coz for one day a year (when you buy your tax disk) they can
check you're got insurance and an MOT. and as we all know MOT's have
got **** all to do with whether a car is truly safe. and
insurance..."ello, ello, ello, no insurance?" "no, sorry ossifer, but
the bloke oos car I nicked has paid 'is tax, so it's all legal" "fair
enough then, off oyu go, you young scamp".

Another government scheme to pretend they are doing something (reducing
vehicle crime, in this case) while doing **** all to solve the problem and
making a bit of cash on the side.
