.... no fettling update this weekend - been nursing an 'acking coff,
and expelling great beige lumps of loveliness all day. Not really
conducive to spending time in an unheated garage.

However, the switch block arrived[1], and is dead good, complete with
wiring loom, to clip right in. Heated grips on order.

I've got next Thursday and Friday[2] off work, so expect real-time
    updates as the rebuild continues.

[1] as did my "new" 'phone. Ta, Mr C.

[2] Blackbird MOT time. Followed by beer.

  5. Beige? You wuss. Start on the rollups for thick and brown loveliness.
Don't forget the heated jacket and socks!
I expect to see an oily keyboard in that case.

Ladies and Jennelmen, we now have brakes.

    Woo.

Aren't Mityvacs fun? Until you use them on the rear caliper of a
GL1500 and all they do is suck air into the system between the bleed
nipple and the caliper. A bit of grease sorted that out.

The rear caliper has an 8mm nipple, and the fronts are 10mm, if that
    makes any sense.

Only took a litre of brake fluid, too.

New pads all round. Braided hoses. I hope I can sense the improvement.

The air compressor distributor pump has been cleaned and re-sited - it
    had worked loose.

All wiring (additional custom wiring, that is) currently being
    re-routed and tidied up.

The shocks are on properly now, and I've removed the CD player to
    fettle the lid correctly.

Blackbird MOT tomorrow - which of course is a really good time to
discover a big chunk of steel stuck in the rear tyre.

Pulled it out, and nothing happened. No hiss, no nothing. Phew.

    <Aside>

    Isn't Radio 5 Live a bit dull?

    have had R4 on.

    Yes, now sod off.

It's all cushty, to coin a phrase.

All that remains now is to bolt on several acres of plastic, chrome
trim, air ducts, chrome trim, exhaust heat shields, chrome trim,
switch blocks, chrome trim, silencers, chrome trim, heated grips,
chrome trim, extra lights, chrome trim, horns and put the CD back in.

    Piece of piss.

Horse, courses, etc. I love it. I'll switch R4 on and it'll be a
program about the growth of Romanticism in the 19th Century, or
experiences of the first black immigrants to the UK, or some other
thing that I have no knowledge or interest in, and within 5 minutes
    I'm hooked.

There are a few exceptions - can't stand "You and Yours", or "The
Moral Maze", but amazingly I even find "Gardener's Question Time"
    entertaining.

Variable. No good if you're trying to drive fast, or in rush-hour
traffic. Needs concentration. Janet Daly is a moronic slag, too.
    GQT is superb. Love it.

Never heard it, but I've also never heard it mentioned in terms other
    than derision and contempt.

  17. I have a cousin who was a TV producer at the Beeb. In days of yore R4's
"Start the Week", "Midweek" and "Stop the Week" were known as "Pluggers",
"Nutters" and "Wankers". "Wankers" was so bad - it was hosted by Robert
Robinson, which says it all - that it was put out of our misery several
    years ago.

I never seem to have the radio on at the right time for it. I'm fairly
into "From our own Corresspondent" at the moment, though. Oh, and "Veg
