There are two good participants on this newsgroup, who are expecting new
arrivals in their families.. Although I'm not certain of the exact arrival
dates of those little ones, <chuckle> they'll be here real soon..

IceMan in Austin and Morgan Kane in Houston will be parents.. IceMan is
already the father of a lovely little girl, who is about 11 years old..
Morgan Kane hasn't enjoyed the fatherhood experience before..

Over the years.. we've seen reports of accidents involving participants..
and others.. We've seen reports of deaths in families.. Hey.. we've even
seen a few reports of divorces and such..

These posts and reports have been responded to with condolences,
congratulations and expressions of great compassion.. That is most
    appropriate and considerate..

I believe that most participants on tx.motorcycles will agree that this is a
group that is somewhat different than most usenet newsgroups.. So many of
the participants know and like one another.. hmmmm... Well, maybe there are
a few exceptions.. like the Bill Walker character, right ? lol

Now then.. a thought occurred to me this morning.. There have been rare
occasions when a real tragedy or glorious event has occurred in the lives of
tx.motorcycles participants, where the group came together to provide
anything but lip service.. Why can't we do something about that phenomenon ?

For example, I can't think of too many events more remarkable than a new
arrival in a family.. Let's do a ride.. get together and show support in a
    meaningful way ..

We've got a ride set up for next weekend.. We'll ride to Mena, Arkansas..
There is another ride to Arizona in the planning.. Another ride to Mexico is
    on the calendar this year..

How about dedicating those rides to the contributors of this newsgroup. who
are going to be new fathers ? <chuckle> Might go so far as to take up a
little collection to send a small token of respect to IceMan and Morgan
Kane.. or anyone else we know, that might be experiencing some dramatic
    changes in their lives..

Lip Service, congratulations and expressions of compassion are fine, but..
they don't quite make the dent that a concrete gesture would make..

Anyone in the Lone Star state and tx.motorcycles got any thoughts about this
brainstorm ? I'd be interested in reading feedback.. and I'm sure that
    others would, also.. Regards

Ya'll be careful out there.. You can bet, we'll be keeping an eye out for
you.. I don't think anyone in our bunch will be carrying anything as gucci
as a CB, though.. We're mostly riding cruisers of one type or another.. lol.
    Regards..

Yeah, a CB is a little bit too high tech for most of us Cruiser fellers.
Even if we could afford to buy one, and install it, we couldnt hear the
    darn thang'. (grin)

<chuckle> Back in the day.. when I was riding the Dresser Touring
motorcycles.. all that gucci stuff was on them.. Stereos, tape decks.. and
    CB radios..

Got too damn old to be wrestling those beasts around and changed my riding
    style, somewhat..

I've ridden with several cruisers over the years, that had those gizmos
mounted on them.. Finally made up my mind that all that gucci stuff wasn't
what I needed.. Much rather listen to that engine do it's thing, than to
hear a lot of people talking to each other.. LOL.. The sound of a well
tuned engine is music to my ears, anyway..

Sheesh.. I ride my motorcycle to enjoy my own space.. If I need to talk to
someone, I'll attempt to do that by signing.. failing to communicate that
way, we can stop and talk it over .. Regards

Yeah, I like the Valk, and I'm glad I bought the bike.

However, at least mine, has many shortcomings. Just
one that comes to mind is ride harshness. Personally,
I like a taught ride, but mine is as harsh as a covered
wagon. Of course, a lot is related to some of these
    Dallas roads/streets.

Thanks Gary. That is my new girl. I am not sure what I want to do with
her yet. It is a blast to ride, but nothing, I mean nothing compares to
    the Valkyrie.

I'd thought about that(the rear shock settings), but I've
never really taken a look at it. So, I guess it's set as it
would come from the factory, or after any dealer tam-
    pering(s).

Really, it's not too bad on most road surfaces. But, some
of this around town stuff here in Dallas, becomes a killer.

Specifically, these sunken manhole covers are what gets
me the most irritated. Some of those can be deadly. I
try to sidetrack those, but sometimes they're very well
    hidden.

Thanks, for the suggestion. I'll check those out, and may
    adjust accordingly.

hmmm.. Just getting ready to organize a search party to find out what's up,
Beemer.. Better ease up on all the overtime working, big guy.. Guys our age
just don't hold up well under that kind of pressure..

Well sir.. if you'd be interested in making that run down into Mexico, you
should make some arrnagements for time off.. The dates on the run aren't
locked in yet, and could be adjusted to fit into your schedule.. Good to see
you back on the newsgroup.. Regards

I set my shocks on the lowest number, one reason, it lowered the back
    about a 1/2'' probably
