    What do you say?
What do you say to a mate thats been there for 14 years
What do you say to those faithful eyes that look at you as if to say "Why am
I here, what have I done wrong?"
What do you say, how do you tell him that it has all come to an end, all
    those years of faithfullness ...
Even as I warmed my bike up for a ride and he knew he couldnt come, he would
bid me farewell and always be there waiting when I came home .... no
problems, he knew that my time on my bike is my time, he knew I would be
back (and usually in a better mood than when I left)
What do you say to the vet when he suggests its time to put your old mate
    down?
I would like to think that in the morning he will be there as usual, waiting
for breakfast, waiting and hoping that I might have time to throw the ball,
even for just a minute, he wouldnt care......

    What do you say ......

    Just a dog ..... I think not !!!

  2. Hardest thing I ever had to do was shoot my best mate. He knew, he´d been
on many shooting trips. He just looked up with those sad puppy dogs eyes,
cocked his head to one side, gave me a look of relief then turned away. Second time around
the vet asked if I wanted to watch!

I hope it was a different dog and you didnt miss badly. (not meant as a joke, cause the other option would suck for you n the dog.

This is an emotional day today. First I get the story of a poor innocent
kid, molested and destroyed by the bastard of step father, now a put down
the dog story, and then we had Slim Dusty yesterday as well.
I've seen a couple of my best mate's go, and each time I swore I couldn't
live through it again. Watching them lie there as the vet puts in the needle
and they look at you as if to say ' it's ok, I've had a good life mate'.
I've had one too many beers and I think it's time for bed...
    :(

    it was a joke.

I didn't know the dog either and don't care. Dog dies of old age, wow!

Slim Dusty dies and I don't care. I would appreciate it if they buried
every copy of every song he ever sang with him.

Child dies violently before having a chance to live life, I care.

You've obviously never had a dog in your life. For that I pity you.
Like his music or not it would be impossible to underestimate his
contribution to this country and the Australian music industry and for that
reason many people do care. What have you done?
    Somehow I doubt that.

  15. Never just a dog, I know how you must be feeling. I lost my 16YO last year,
he'd been to every state with me and more.

He made a significant contribution yes. Doesn't mean everyone has to give a shit.
Why? Because he doesn't share the same views on life as yourself? Get over it.

A crap strategy, mate... if you have a house, she'll be in it every 10
seconds, "just brought you some flowers", "just tidying up", "just making a
cuppa"... you need every man's home and castle, a SHED! Preferably full of
rusty bike parts, rumbling fridges, and... spiders (oooo)
