I doesn't offer a break-down of what the drivers were sent to prison
    for - I'm /hoping/ it's mostly drink-driving, or repeated no-insurance
    etc.

Life is cheap. Houses, particularly in the South East, cost lots of
    money.

The "world's gone mad" example the Standard were presenting the other night
was of a drunk driver who was banned for 12 months and repeatedly drove
while banned, and without insurance. He was sent before the beak 3 times
IIRC before they sent him for a spell as Mr-Big-on-D-wing's new wife

Andrew Neil used that to bash a government minister on the BBC's This Week.
Mildly amusing as the minister was out of his depth. He was from Transport
and was not prepared to comment on Neil's accusations about speed cameras,
    revenue collection and policing.

The minister did not give a breakdown of the figures to say how many were
in for non payment of fines compared to serious offences such as
    manslaughter.

The Tories, as ever, shot themselves in the foot by wheeling out the
vacuous John Redwood as Transport spokesperson.

I suspected that might be the sort of thing.

I've no real problem with that sort of fuckwit being "sent down".

Beside, with a housing shortage and overpopulation you know it makes sense
