I'd be more impressed if they were in the top 1%

  3. Even if I wanted to vote after the 4 hour trip back from London (thanks
Network Rail!) there's just no way I could face anything except a large
    glass of wine.

If I could be arsed to shift myself I'd probably spoil my paper or
register a protest vote. MPs are just so bloody faceless.

It's exactly the same. You need at least one more vote than the person
    who comes second.

Good choice - which lenses did you get?

I'd guess at the 17-85 IS-USM for one of them?

Would reduce the obesity problem amongst the Jeremy Kyle watching classes.

True enough - but once you start down the route of the L lenses, there is
    no turning back...
Lowepro do a range of stuff - I have one of these for day to day mooching
    and find it's OKish...

Rooms for kit you want to take out and about, plus a few sarnies and a
    bottle of water...

Not a chance sunshine - you're pencilled in as Boris Johnson's PR
    officer.

I imagine Boris would no longer be in power and would, instead, be
    hosting telly programmes.

I have not actually met Sweller so that would be a rather rash thing
to do - this place isn't real and I prefer to meet people for real
before making a proper judgement as to whether we'd get on. He
strikes me as a decent candidate to run a new British Rail to replace
the hotch potch we have today.

You didn't expect that answer did you?

  16. I'm also going through a darsyesque period with cameras, I think I want
a DSLR (in fact I mailed whoever it was that had a 350D for sale on here
but got no reply), but I need a chat with somebody in a decent camera
shop before I commit. Too much info in the "What Camera?" style mags. I
really just want something with good image quality, decent flash and the
ability to zoom (cricket and planes mainly).

    Been looking at the 1000D.

I want one of them as a general use walkabout lens.

    But first I need a 70-300mm zoom.

I think from age 16-21 you should have 3 options:

    School/College/Uni.
    Apprenticeship.
    Armed Forces service.

No other options, no unemployment option. Any job comes under the
apprenticeship heading to ensure employers adequately train
    youngsters.

Of course, it would require a full disclosure of all your income
affairs to be handed over to the council.

How could you set a rate, until you knew the "income" of each of your
    constituents?

Everything would be done six months after the event - which would
require massive levels of local authority debt, which would need to be
    financed.

Much like central taxation, which, after all, provides 70%+ of local
authority funding in the first place.
