Why? Every Home Secretary appointed recently has been more rabid than
the last. I'd not be surprised to hear that Nick Griffin had been made a
life peer and given the job if she does go.

go and talk to the Catholics.

I week or two ago I might have been doing a little Happy Dance, but now
I think that whoever replaces will be as bad, if not worse.

    Cynicism is such a drag.

Things definitely won't improve while she's there, but they /might/
    with someone else.

With a bit of luck the one-eyed scottish idiot will be gone shortly

at some point in the next twelve months.

Quite. My post of yesterday said pretty much the same thing.

    And then there's this poll:
    http://www.ipsos-mori.com/content/home-page-news/ipsos-mori-expenses-poll-for-the-bbc.ashx

    Some selected stats:

Three in five (62%) think that MPs put their own interests ahead of the
interests of their party, constituents and country
Three-quarters (76%) do not trust MPs in general to tell the truth.
Two in three (68%) believe that half or more MPs use power for their
    own personal gain
Two in three (68%) think that most MPs make a lot of money by using
    public office improperly

of course, just because those members of the public polled believe the
above, it doesn't make any of those "stats" true.

Well, no. Maybe my use of the word "stats" was misleading and I should
    have used "soundbites".

It still shows peoples general perception of MPs, though.

sure - basically people think MPs suck, and this is devaluing the
basis for the democratic process itself, and will probably also lead
to the likes of UKIP and the BNP gaining ground.

Sadly you are right - all this recent furore about nothing really, serves
mostly to ensure that the isolationist (from the EU) agenda of the
    Barclay Brothers becomes a reality.

did you see the BNP's party political broadcast[1]?

They've obviously employed a better Public Relations firm than
previously - they come across as almost reasonable.

    Take a cold bath.

    "Furore about nothing"

Half the house have become lying cheating thieving cunts. Any company would
have prosecuted such actions. And we also have two labour peers admitting
they would take bribes to support legislation, and they said it was normal
    business.

It's Britain and it won't happen but I'd happily watch a military coup drag
the fucking lot out and execute them on the riverside. 50% might have been
claiming honestly but they all kept their fucking mouths shut.
