I've just fitted the Power Commander

No idea mate but as they're 4,800 new I guess about 3,300-3,500 from a
dealer. The pipes don't add anything to the value. Ask if he's got the
originals, which he won't have and negotiate the price down because of
    that.
Smooth a the proverbial baby's, mate.

It does get a bit of a weave on over 90mph in windy conditions though
but other than that, it's fine.

Probably needs it's nappy changed. Affects handling terrible and can be
    confused with wind.

Sturdeys in Kent have an ex-demonstrator for sale, I've already asked
them for a ballpark trade-in price for my 'blade, so we'll see.
Well, they are at the moment.

I still have a devil on my shoulder telling me to buy an XR650R and
    some Talon rims, mind you.

well, yes - interest free credit is cheaper than buying for cash, so
it's worth doing. Even better if it's backed up by the same amount (or
more) cash sitting accumulating interest in a savings account.

I'm trying to work out why you decided on a bike that's not got the
power you wanted. We're not talking a small amount but you want almost
    a 50% increase.

Surely you'd have been better buying a bike that could give you what
you want in the first place?

Ah, Tonbridge's premier Suzuki dealer. I remember them well.

Allegedly only until the 30th of September, but I wouldn't be surprised
if they extend it again. And again. And again.

I have a devil on my shoulder telling me to buy a Daytona 675, even if
it is chickwheels. Fortunately, he's talking quietly and it's easy to
    ignore.

    following:
    Well obviously.

I made a misinformed[1] decision based on a delusion that I'd get used
    to it.

I have got used to it and love the way it delivers its power, it just
needs another 2k or 3k revs and 20 odd bhp because now I've bought it, I
realise I do actually do more out-of-town riding than I thought.

Anyway, I've still got the ratbike which is plenty fast enough and has
handling that's terrifying enough to keep my mind on what I'm doing so
until I've got another £5k to blow I'm going to have to keep it.

[1] For want of a better word.

Good god, man, did you learn nothing from that much beloved cautionary
tale "Dan and the V-Strom" ? Buying a bike you think might be a bit
rubbish is what's known in the trade as a self-fulfilling prophecy.

  13. Where did you take it? What's them charts say?

Course, if it's still overweight and underpowered, you could always take
an angle grinder to it ;o)

    Road and Track in Aylebury.

The bloke's going to email me a chart as I don't have a scanner here and
no other way of reliably putting them on the web[1].

Basicly, up to 2,000rpm it was the same as the PC custom map but without
the snatchiness, then he's bolted another 8%-9% more power on over the
entire range, right upto the limiter (which cuts in at 7,201 revs, btw)
and the torque's up by a useful and usable amount, too.

It really has transformed the bike.
When the cliques' latest clit bike breaks down I'll remind them that at
    least it only weighs 109kg.

[1] I could take a photo of the chart but that would look shit.

Blimey. Did fitting those cans really lose 57kg?

Red is original[1], blue is after R&T fiddled.

[1] Bear in mind that "original" means the Powercommander custom map for
pipes, filter and PC and would've read a lot less in standard trim.

I almost wish I'd put it back to standard to see the difference.

Well what else have you cut off it to get it down from 160kg plus,
