Try Road and Track at Aylesbury, they seemed quite reasonable when I
enquired about dyno-ing the Zephyr with the Lazer can on.

I could come and point and laugh too.

That's near enough for you to point and laugh, too.

10% is pretty much what you expect by changing from a stoichoimetric ratio
to a richer one for max power, with about 25% increase in fuel consumption.

There's also PDQ in Taplow, who did a lovely job with my late 7R.

    Hello,

Sorry to jump on your thread, but I am seriously looking into buying a
XT660X with full Akropovic system on at a local dealer but am unsure on if
the bike would be upto a ride out with lads on sports bikes. Only interested
at speeds upto say 90 ish as I like my licence. I was racing at Lydd two
weeks ago and three turned up there with a KTM but I never got round to
talking to the owners as I was busy falling of my race supermoto. ( one of
the bikes had IQ18 sticker, maybe one of you lot ?? )

Thanks for any advice / abuse that is likely to follow, Richard

I'll ring them both today and see what gives. They're both quite close
    together.

    It's not my thread, Pal.
My advice would be to buy them separately and fit them yourself. If you
buy direct from the importer, which isn't hard to find, you'll get them
    with about 30% off.
Depends where you want to ride. On the straights, forget it but on the
twisties, you'll eat them for lunch.
That's good 'cos it'll only do a ton ten flat-out!
The KTM owners I've spoken to (only two, I confess) love their bikes but
    wish they'd bought something else.
For town work and general beating anything to 60mph, you can't beat one
but if high revs and horsepower are your thing then look elsewhere.

    Thanks for your reply,

The bike in question is a 54 plate with 2k miles on it and already has the
    full system fitted,
what sort of price would you think I should should pay?

If cruising at say 80mph does it vibrate and rattle, or is the bike
relativly smooth, albiet a little windy.

    Thanks again.

Oh I understand perfectly what you're doing, but at the end of it all,
you'll still have a slow, heavy, underpowered bike that looks a little
like a supermotard. They're probably OK bikes, but if I wanted a
"motard lite" style bike without too much power, I really would want
    it to be /light/.
The good old ad hominem argument - even more pathetic for it being
factually incorrect in addition to being a logical fallacy in this
    case.

Last weekend some guy rode past Tori's house in Mundesley, Norfolk on a
KTM with IQ18 sticker on the right number board. He was following a red
Fazer 600 whose rather large rider wore a black open face lid. Anyone
    you know, Veggie?

    Heavy? No.

    Underpowered, yes.

Just as well you ain't buying one then, innit.
So you've ridden less than 100?

It's ok, I'll let you off because money's all you've got with a face
    like yours.

173kg is very heavy for a motard. Even my R30, which is hardly cutting
edge for a motard was only 137kg, and something like a Husky Nox comes
    in at 109kg.
    as I said, I wouldn't. I am still thinking of buying a DR-Z400SM,
which is underpowered, but at least it's pretty light.
I have lots of things too, don't forget.

Don't suppose you've found anywhere with a demonstrator? I'm still
toying with the idea of one (to replace the 7R now, rather than
complement it), but it won't be til next spring, and even then only if
Suzuki are still doing them to ride away for a quid.

Yeah well, you live and learn. It's not the weight that bothers me it's
the lack of another 2,000 or 3,000 rpm and 20bhp.
I'll have to trust you on that one.
