Heh. Misread 'Life' as 'Wife' there for a moment. How apt.

  4. [secret and huge financial payments]

Well it's great fun at work at present because they [1] are trying to
make us on call officials and to be available 24/7 in case of dire
emergencies without any consultation or negotiation. There is also no
recognition of our entitlement to additional payments for such cover
    arrangements.

My relative wealth means I can afford to be very awkward indeed - I
almost feel like a bolshy trade union rep :)
I reckon I should feel insulted about that remark but as you have
obviously restored your financial health to tip top condition [2] I'll
    say no more.

Aren't you an accountant? Why would anyone want an on-call 24/7
    accountant?
What's his name? I've never come across a TU rep that I fancy yet.
Cardigans and greasy hair [1] just don't do it for me.

[1] yes, a generalization, but valid in the last place I worked that had
    a TU.

  6. I beg your pardon - accountant!?!?!!! I certainly am *not* an
    accountant.
I think you are stretching the meaning of my sentence to breaking point!

A simple no would have sufficed.
I'm in the middle of a media analysis which entails reading the
Times/Sun/Foxnews daily. I think this may have a bearing on my current
ability to interpret things to mean anything.

It will all be over once Bush leaves the UK and hopefully I will regain
    a more normal perspective.

I like those credit card deals. I had the GS for a year before I actually
paid for it. Just by transferring the money from one card to another.
Halifax even gave me a 1% cashback on the purchase price for using their
    card for the initial purchase.
