I've got a horrible feeling...

And this is exactly why, when riding with people capable of sustaining
speeds sufficient to flick stones(1), I prefer to maintain a safe
distance. Out of harm's way, so to speak.

I find hanging back about three corners, gradually increasing to half
a county - or two fags at a petrol stop - is generally about right.

    1. Riding in a group throgh the Dales a while ago, I stopped behind
Flook at lights. As he moved away, I was fascinated by a white object
on his rear tyre - a large quartz chipping, of course. Faster and
faster it went round as we gathered speed - then as we passed into NSL
and I closed the visor on my old Shark, Flook gave me his stone.
Right between the fucking eyes. Had to replace the visor, but I'm
well pleased I'd just shut it.

Just seems sensible to me. I mean, I could go faster if I wanted - as
fast as any of you cunts - but I just don't want to.

    OK?
    Slippery customer.

Bonwick blew off my LHS mirror with a well-aimed stone.

Nowadays I'd be proud that I could keep close enough to him for that sort of
    thing to happen.

Was it a BOTAFOT? I had the impression it was just the two of us.
No I wasn't, actually, but I thought I'd try to foster the illusion that I
once used to be at least reasonably quick.

Thanks for playing along on that one, matey.

It was. I remember it well, ISTR it was my first 'FOT.

I also remember it was fucking cold with freezing fog - we made it as
far as the Little Chef at Buckingham for breakfast where we spent the
    next 90 minutes warming up.

Indeed, there's no SV thou owners on UKRM I know of, but they're well
    popular here at work.

Best ask on a more receptive forum ! e.g www.sv1000.zyns.com

I rode one briefly, bit lumpy from standstill, but this is better with
a powercommander, but seems to have plenty of go. Seems a nicer ride
then the VTR but then It was Spete's I was comparing it against. ;-)

No, not taken the race VTR out yet, sorry Paul C :))

    Cheers,

    Paul.

There's one - but I've forgotten his name - used to have something like
"Stickier than a stick insect" in his sig though.
I think it's the nature of the engine - the DL is similar.

Yup it was - but I'm 99% sure he got an SV1000.

I don't generally click on every link posted - plus the URL had no relevance
to me as you posted it as part of a sig.

Call me thick, but that doesn't make it an "obvious" thing to click on.

I'm not being slow in the slightest as I've known all along the bloke has an
SV1000 - it's you lot who keep confusing the issue :)

Nope, rest assured it's Dan being slow.

If you do the blindingly obvious and follow the URL I quoted,
you'll see it's the same bloke and he got an SV thou.
