The MB-5 didn't have a proper 2-stroke engine. The MB had an engine that
wouldn't redline in neutral, I know cos I tried with my mate's brand new
one.

91mph for the 50cc - nice. 91 would have been interesting on my old AP50 [1]

[1] a very old one, even when I owned it in 1983

Now I feel old. Moped in 1979. By '85 I had had a litre bike for some
time.

Quite so - I had a 750 turbo in 85.

I didn't actually have a bike at all, having just got shot of the
road-converted, then terminally seized, XT500 :-( Was another three or
four years before I was back on two wheels.

Indeed, they were slower than a very slow thing.
