Why didn't you mention that when Mary and I were there?

Been there, done that... it takes a hell of a lot more than a vacation
    to fix burn out.
It took me 20 years. But I was one of the worst of the worst. Its
    an entire life
re-adjustment...new insight is required, then the biochemistry can go
    back to normal
    that takes a while too.
Go get laid for about a month straight. ... get involved with an entire
new divergent class of people. Go to an indian reservation tell them you
came to spend money, learn the way of the buffalo.
    later).

When I begin feeling a bit out of gas I take a week or two off for starters,
then I work 2 hour days until I feel like hitting it again. Most people
greatly underestimate the damage .... I saw it honollulu all the
time...people on one or two week vacations.... it takes 6 months to even
start to relax...another 6 months to build up 4 or 5 girlfriends.
those kind folk at work didnt give you the hint about burn out for thier
health.... I suggest you see a medical doctor and let him check you over for
the well known signs and then take his advice.
You are in denial currently....staying in denial, after these people
suggested you were burnt out could be fatal to your career. and you.

Borrrrrrrrrrrring.... Take a run to south texas, Laredo, and look over the
old wild west saloons still standing...stay in a motel there for a week and
pick fuzz out of your navel....then head on south to Monterey and find an
affectionate seniorita for a few months or longer...email em at work that
'this may take a while'....they will understand.
You are cooking on all 16 cylinders and it feels good...but you are
    forcing it...you are in denial.
Find a good doctor...take his advice.
Its more than that.... the brain chemistry is toast. You couldnt have fun
if they paid you. Too much stress reaction going on.

The health goes next....and it doesnt take long. If you dont read much you
    are in trouble/
If you do read search google for the relevant issues, add the following key
    words to the search

    'health', brain chemistry, adrenal'

You are smart asking for advice...the advice you need is from old timers who
have been there and done that...but mainly from one or two MD's and do a web
    search on the issue

    Good luck

Hawaii is nice but two weeks isnt zip... What you need to do in Hawaii
is find a female native Hawaiian roommate (pay half the rent) and stay for
6 months....let the islands change you....then give it an extra 5 months.
You wont want to return to no steeening yob.

You are looking to be 'doing, doing, doing' when you need be resting and
    reconceptualizing life....big time.
Looking to get aids are you?
It will be maturity that solves your problem, not a continuation of the
    same mental set.

You are in denial. Your job is in great jeapardy, they gave you a clue and
a chance... you are not getting the clue and are setting up to waste the
chance. Tell them you will need a few months, then go see a few MD's for
advice on how to spend the time.... and study burn out on the web.

I had to read the faq twice, then contact someone before I believed it was
legit, and not just a joke someone was pulling on me...

In a way it is creepy...

Pahrump and Ely, but not nearly as exciting in other ways and much
more expensive. After the third go, you'd have spent the airfare to
    Schipol.

Saw a report on plcaes like that on some TV sexumentary.
Most of the girls were from places like Hungary and Czech republic
with a few local area types as well.
I imagine that if you are from some grimy mining town in the old
Eastern Block living in paradise and getting paid for it might be
    enticing.

It's always darkest just before dawn.
So, if you're going to steal the neighbour's newspaper,
That's the time to do it.

    Go to www.jollymonsailing.com.

There is no better drug than sailing in the Carribean. Got the bike
itch? Bring your own, or rent one, and park it on the deck. Don't know
how to sail? Contact me at and I may help you out.

Want to do a road trip? Check out www.bikenorthamerica.com. I did
that. I'd rather spend 8 days sailing some half-million-dollar boat
rented from some bastard doctor in the Carribean. Don't get me wrong.
I've done both. The bike trip was 5 times longer; the sailing trip was
    like drugs.

  14. How about a couple weeks on a bike in Costa Rica? I just spent an extended
week there on a rented DR650. Loved it!

See photos and such on my website....
