I'm going to see if they've got one in stock at Gatwick duty free
tomorrow and ask if I can collect it on my way back.

I've wasted a couple of hours freeing up more circuits, more karts and
more drivers on Mariokart this afternoon and it really is an
    entertaining game.

    Thanks for that.

Could I ask a really cheeky question? Would you mind measuring the
    width of it?

The specs say it's 430mm wide, which is unfortunately too wide for my
cabinet. But you never know, they may be slightly smaller.

  5. No - sorry, thats as I measured as well.

Its the same width as my B&W center speaker so sits under the TV on top of
that, my seperates are in a seperate stack off to one side.

The Ursine speak da troof. Local Dental Access Centre - quick,
brutal, sorted. I'm waiting on my DAC to extract three inna row as
they're all broken off (below the gum line in places, requiring
operative expertise). They all were expensive root canal jobs, all
fucked due to crashing cars (and latterly bikes, I guess) and my
annoying habit of grinding my teeth when asleep.

I know I still grind 'em because I did damage to one of the stumps on
Xmas Eve, removing a lump of amalgam which I found in my mouth when I
woke up. On inspection it had had four grooves in it where it had
been cast around the pins - then I found the pins, sticking up out of
the now-shorter stump. Like needles, they were. Still, no nerve, no
pain - until I bent a pin outwards and it dug into the cheek.

Much fucking about later on bent all the pins in a safe direction,
which was fine until they started to randomly rotate, sticking into my
cheek when they felt like it. A good overnight grind seemed to snap
them off, leaving only one by christmas morning. Hey ho, another
three weeks and it'll be gone for good.

    Ah, bruxism.
You do know that you can get a fitted tooth guard to wear while asleep, to
    protect the teeth?

That's a very subtle way to refer to Pat.

That does not sound like a lot of fun. As platy says, a guard might
    help in the short term.

    And it bloody is!

I fired up my HTPC with the new LG Blu-ray drive in it last night,
loaded PowerDVD (included, which is a good job as Vista doesn't yet
natively understand Blu-Ray) and watched Apocalypto. It was
    absolutely fucking stunning.

I then did a back to back test with Bladerunner, which I now have on
both Blu-ray and DVD. The difference with Blu-ray is pretty damn
    noticeable - I'm a convert.

Mind you, buying movies on Blu-ray is still a bit pricy. Anyone (and
I'm looking at you, here, Pip), want to set up an exchange lending
service? I can currently offer Apocalypto (mind-blowingly good),
Bladerunner and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert
    Ford

  17. I notice that DVD's look a lot better when played on the BD player compared
to my old Pioneer DVD player, I suppose that will be a mix of using HDMI vs
Scart and upscaling from the BD Player.

Swapsies is a good idea - I only have Cloverfield on BD at the moment, but
have Casino Royale, Batman : The Dark Knight and Hellboy II : The Golden
    Army en route from play.com

  19. I'd be up for this, but sending transatlantic is prolly a bit OTT. We
might also run into region coding issues, although this site will help
    clarify:

    http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=a

    All Region/Region Free:

    Hellboy Directors Cut
    Pans Labyrinth
    BBC's Planet Earth
    The Fall
    March of the Penguins

Region A (according to the site above):

The Golden Compass - 2 Disc Platinum
    Smart People
    Ratatouille
    Juno - 2 Disc Special
    Spider-Man 3
    Tinkerbell

Hmm, I thought I had more than that, might be a few still in a box
    somewhere.

  20. Yes. When cruising the torrent sites, the Blu Ray versions are usually
8-9Gb. I don't bother as I have no way to burn to Blu Ray, so I use
    Netflix instead.
