So, doing an oil change on the Pegaso.
    Check the manual
Check amount of oil needed (2.5l) buy 3l of oil.
Put bike on level surface and stick on stand.
    Warm engine.
    Unbolt drain plug.
Remove 2l of oil (can you see where things are yet ?)
Put in nearly 1 litre of oil (frame fill).
    Warm engine.
Put in another 0.5 litre of oil.
    Warm engine.
    Check level.... full.

Errr... ok, WTF is going on ????

    Answers on a postcard please.

(Note, same engine as Yam XT 660)

  2. Er. As it's a dry sump engine you need to drain both frame and engine
(trhere's obviously rather less in the engine cases than there is in the
    frame).

Dry sump, so there'll be another drain point on the frame somewhere, at
the bottom of whichever bit of frame holds the oil.

    <sigh>
    re-reads manual
    </s>

For once, I should have just looked at the pretty pictures.
The manual defo just states "remove the sump plug and drain", absolutely
*no* mention of the frame bolt.

However, nice pretty picture shows an arrow pointing at sump *and* frame
    plug.

Oh well, live and learn. Its up to 2l in it now, so thats .5l old oil.
I'll run it for a couple of thou and do another change then with filter.

Cfr post subject; I once I saw this happen during a 600 cc offroad oil
    change:

    - two drain plugs & filler cap removed
    - oil drained
    - sump plug refitted
    - 1.5 l oil filled into frame
    - no oil seen on dipstick - ?
    - 1.5 l of fresh oil spotted on ground . . . .
    - #&%#$*#/&%

    On a similar note:

    Fill up Scottoiler on Saturday.
    Ride to work today.
Disappear in cloud of smoke at lights.
Go to collect bike from carpark to go home.
Bike sitting in puddle of blue oil.
    Switch Scottoiler back from "prime"
    Curse loudly.
Refill Scottoiler properly when home again.

I found out I'd done that when the rear end of the V-Strom tried to pass
    me.

Be warned about Stewart & Clinton(former owners of Bandit Bikes).

No-more Bandit Bike is news for Stewart & Clinton but good news for
    road safety.

Clinton was ok, but Stewart was a big, fat, ugly and thoroughly
    obnoxious South African ****.
