‘‘What's even more unbelievable is how he has the same bullshit about landscapers on the website. It just seems he's pissed at everyone who makes noise. Will do, Bjay. Joe used the tractor and box blade, to level off a spot for the shop. It's all prepared and he's is ready to start welding the pipe frame, as soon as the pipe gets here. I traded some ceramic molds (left over from my ceramics shop days) to our neighbor, for some pipe. Joe is building a 16' x 30' shop, plenty big to work on motorcycles, cars, trucks, or even tractors. It will even be big enough for me to have a paint booth. Joe has 49 days left until retirement from the company he has worked at, for 20 years. He'll have to have the shop, to keep him busy, out of trouble and out of my hair. <g> -- Sunny, ISRA #7123 '02 XVS650A "Deerslayer" '00 XVS650 "Red" '99 XVS650A - Joe's "Deerslayer Too" '84 V30 Magna (parting out)

<chuckle> I was wondering where you stood on this one, Morgan.. These guys are applauding one, just one idiot that is taking dead aim on foolishness.. Their wishful thinking is in their own minds .. The support of this kind of thinking is a double edged sword that can come back to haunt them, at any time.. Without a doubt, there is as much if not more resentment by the public for the way that many of the sporter, stunt bikers perform on the highways, than all the cruiser riders combined.. When the efforts of the "get the cruisers off the road" fizzles, those same people will turn their attention to the sport bikers and stunters.. I've heard more criticism of that crowd in Austin, where it counts, than complaints about anyone else.. As I've said often, on this newsgroup... "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it".. Regards Bill Walker
Well folks reading your opinion need to temper it with the realization that stupid website represented the anti motorcycle extremists. By representing their position to the extreme they lack credibility, among most of us. It is the same very reason most of us do not pay much attention to Hank's political ramblings. But that is not to say they will not gain an audience. An audience made up of those who see all riders as 1%er's or all sport bike enthusiasts as the worst type of Squids. When an extremist group can sow a seed and then well meaning riders water it and fertilize it, by dressing up in our biker costumes and storming public spaces in a loud and obnoxious manner, we reinforce those negative stereo types. You like loud pipes? Cool. Just temper your throttle response when sneaking in and out of residential areas at five AM in the morning. Blatt the damn thing when people are trying to sleep, just because you can, and you will reinforce the crap folks may have read or heard. Like it or not some of the things we do because we enjoy it, or because we perceive it as acceptable behavior, {1} can and will be interpreted by our less two wheel educated neighbours as a knock against all riders. Extremist groups will get great mileage from some of the activities we enjoy. All that being said, I have been riding since the 60's. Back then we were all perceived as outlaws and in many ways we were. That image is long gone, at least here in Canada and the many places I have ridden to over the past few years it is. Maybe because I usually greet people with a smile and a hearty hello and for the most part I get the same back in return, I don't see the negative crap. Casual roadside or gas stop meetings almost always involve positive exchanges. So much so I look forward to them. Hell often folks I meet want to get a picture of themselves sitting on the bike. For the most part I accommodate them {2}. Let the extremists spout their drivel. Don't argue with them. The very fact you engage in the debate lends credence to their position. Carry yourself like the ambassador for the fraternity we all are, and let our good actions speak for themselves. {1} Loud pipes Lane splitting Intimidation Reckless riding {2}Ever notice how when a good looking girl has a pic taken of her on a bike she will often give the camera the finger? I started riding way back when too, but it escapes my memory, about being thought of as an outlaw. In those days there were quite a few Biker Movies, one was Easy Rider. After that Movie, Tony and I, packed our Bikes and took off.We didnt wear no leather, had no wind shield, didnt have no saddle bags, we tied stuff on and took off. When we encountered some Arkansas folks, they did look at us funny, I remember. I think they thought we were wild and wooly, but they treated us with, 'in awe', mainly. ( I think I remember it that way, grin!) So, the Biker image has improved in the last 20 years, and mainly because Harley got it's act together again , and Lawyers, doctors, and many other professionals doned the Leather, and the women folks started thinking it was cool to ride with their man, with the same matching garb on, and touring got big, & trailers, and Goldwings, and Honda's promotions, shoot, consquently, most folks think of us, as cool characters, in my humble opinion, atleast here in NETexas and SWArkansas.<My nickels worth>,BJAY)!
