Now that's a REAL race rep !! Probably more so than half the bikes that
    get the tag !

Actually, since you asked, the current ZZR600 is virtually unchanged
from the model which was at least quite competitive and may have even
won the national SS championships when introduced in 1993. That would
be worth quite a lot in pose value wouldn't it? (Of course not as much
pose value as an early 90s CBR600F which I think won every round of the
SS world championship for 3 or 4 years following it's release.

Geez - aus.motocycles must be on roids. Last time I posted something to
this group was probably months if not years ago, and there was like 4
    replies....

OK - I think I've made up my mind on a ZX9-R. The 1999's seem to be
quite cheap, and I've got a full comprehensive quote on one for $650.

Maybe I can afford this dream after all.
Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Not a bad choice, very capable all rounder on the sporty end, plenty
sold so wrecker parts are cheap(ish). A bit dearer to run than the
GSXF750 and etc suggested but shouldn't be too bad.

Yes, was seriously tempted by one(1), until I rode it...
<shocked expression> This is ausmoto, was there another option ?

    JL
OTOH The 2 new K bikes look the ducks nuts though
(1)(late 01 or 02 when I did a whole heap of test riding to see what I
was going to buy next to replace the TRX)liked the Guzzi better if you
want a heavy "sports" bike(2), can understand why some(3) buy them, but
    a sports bike it ain't.
    (2) I guess it's a tourer, hey Hammo
    (3) May I point to the sales figures as compared to other sports bikes
    as speaking volumes.

I wonder how many new riders have older riders to learn from?

C'mon Zebee, if you're young and cool 18yr old in your brand new dainese
leathers with a CBR250RR, are you really going to want to hang out with
a fat old fart with a beard who rides an aging BMW and wears a musty
    smelling dri-rider ?

Your friends would never speak to you again, and you can forget about
the girlies wanting to jump your bones.

Let's keep in mind the things that drive the behaviour of 18yr old boys.

    In numerical order:

    1. Sex
    2. The possibility of getting sex
    3. Sex
    4. Thoughts about sex
    5. Sex
    6. Being cool (in order to get sex)
    7. Sex
    8. Looking cool in front of your mates
    9. Sex

    10-1000 etc etc as above

    1001 Making sensible decisions
    1002 making your mother happy
1003 hanging out with people over 30

    JL
(no offence to the many ausmotians who fit that description - I'm sure
you're past worrying about whether 18yr olds consider you cool or not)

    Well if they'd FUGGIN' LISTEN!!
We old buggers love nothin' better then tellin' wet-behind-the-ears
younguns why mach3's are better than R1s and how keeping everything tucked
neatly in while performing a parabolic-arc is the fastest way to corner but
the younguns just won't pay attention!
Not like when we were young in the 60s and 70s; we showed older-people
    RESPECT!

She does have a BMW Clem but she doesn't have a beard that I'd noticed...

    JL
(and she gives me stick about an undriveable car when there's a Beemer
in her shed that hasn't moved under it's own power in as long as the Mk2)

I would have bought one at the time if I had been able to afford it -
the 24K price tag was just not justifiable at that time. I really liked
the Guzzi, would happily have one in my stable. Which I guess brings up
the interesting point of why I liked the V11 and not the R11S. Riding
position was some of it - it felt tall and awkward, felt like I was
sitting "on" it rather than "in" it, while the guzzi felt comfy and
"right" - the ergonomics felt good, the handling was good on both, but
the Guzzi had a nicer feel.

Note for Smee, even BMW classify the S as a sportstourer...

Not any more there's not. NOt being management material and living in
the posh end of town, I don't have a small football field for a garage,
so can only keep 5 bikes.

The Baby Beemer is now in someone else's care, someone who has wanted
one for years and couldn't count the money out fast enough :)

The Yam's still not going though, you can give me heaps about that if
    you want!
