It's back....(Bindit that is)

  1. Having made an agreeable deal with Aunti Carole, that if I go and assess
the state of the binit, they'll let me call the shot between 1) claim,
han it over to them an they sort it all out or 2) don't claim and use my
breakdown cover to move/re-patriate as applicable, today I went to 'dam.

I decided that if I didn't take my lid, and it was rideable, I'd feel
like a right ****. So I took my jacket and lid/gloves. Then I decided to
tip the scales further in my balance and bought a return train ticket,
    and a return tram ticket.

After what seeme like the worlds longest tram ride, I got to the site
where bike was in secure storage. Got to say, there must have been two
or three hundred vehicles, ranging from perfect condition to totally
    fucking trashed and burnt out.

Anyway, went to see the bike, and from a distance it looked like it was
in the same state as I'd left it. Up close revealed a broken, but
useable, brake lever, a screw drivered ignition barrel, same with fuel
cap, and the bars twisted in the risers.

I stuck the key in, had to jiggle the key lots, then use pen knife, and
finally managed to get ignition to on. Still had battery juice, so after
a lot of started and choke, it tried to fire. Brief rest, try again and
it did. Hoorah. Then it ran like a complete bag of shit. Lots of beans,
blackish clouds and finally it settled down and ticked over as it should.

So, the plod agrees he's happy for me to take it away. Paperwork done,
charge for recovery and 2 weeks storage - 80 euros - paid and away I
went. Took it easy to start - the tyres showed signs of it being grass
tracked at some point, but after a few K's all seemed reasonably well.

It even had more petrol in than when I'd left it. Oh and it's had done
about 5 miles or so whilst AWOL.

So all in all, I think I've been a bit of a jammy git, and here's to the
thief (A Moroccan caught driving a stolen LWB transit with 5 stolen
bikes on board) getting all that he deserves.

I still want to get it home, breakages fixed and (another) good service,
just to be sure I haven't missed anything etc. Now, where's the "Paging
    Pip" email template gone...."

Glad to hear that you're getting the bike sorted out. What happened
again, did it get nicked or something?

Sounds like it was actually in better nick than I remember it ;-)

    Anyway, result. Well done.

They actually caught him as opposed to just finding the bike somewhere?
    Nice.

You're definitely not in the UK ;)
