My first bike was made out of a Villiers 197cc single, and a frame
(allegedly from a Royal Enfield Bullet) that I rescued from a hedge.
    So, possibly.

  2. First proper bike I rode was a SOBB - some manky old Besa 500, afiar.
With me being 16 at the time, the bike was older than me by at least a
decade. Coo, I wasn't 'arf impressed by the feeling of big lumpy power.
Until it broke down, just round the corner.

My first ride on a motorbike was a Bantam (which must have been pre '68
in 1978) round the local dump, although the first bike I owned was a 1981
    DT100 in 1985.

Ridden plenty of bikes older than me, various Triumphs, BSA's, Nortons
    and memorably an Ariel outfit.

  10. I can't for (a). As for b, I haven't ridden out club's 1925 BSA 250
Round Tank yet, but that'll secure it. Otherwise, the oldest bike I've
ridden is, er, um, 1970 or thereabouts. 12 years younger than me.

Hmm, I've ridden a bike which was *twice* as old as me. Hand gate change
    naturally. A V-twin to boot!

    I'd completely forgotten I'd had a quick spin on a 1922 Ricardo OHV 500cc
    Triumph single.

I've been on children's bicycles with better brakes...

Six years younger than me. At the time, though, I did own a bike which
was five years older than me, which my dad has subsequently taken off
    my hands and rebuilt.
I still haven't got to ride my old plunger A10...

Note that it had a steel chain drive and drum brakes even at this early
    date!
The one I rode had that sidecar.
It must be asserted that the available rate of progress was fairly
respectable and the road manners were excellent.

The 1923 BSA 6HP V-Twin on the other hand still had band brakes and may have
been a rubber link drive chain.

I think it was on Tue, 14 Oct 2003 13:44:30 +0100 that Champ
First bike was a 1963 Honda C50 - 10 years younger than me.
Best bike I owned as a youth was a 1956 Enfield Bullet - 3 years
younger than me, but I did ride a 194-something ex-WD BSA 250 despatch
riders bike (C11G?) a few times, bloody horrible experience.
