Depressingly, I think you're bob on there. It's funny how the things
that take priority change as you get older though.

Interesting reading and I didn't know the rev limiter was 7,500 revs.

I got carded today and I assume the pipes are here so I'll get to see if
the "hit the limiter in top" is attainable.

    Cheers for that.

Actually, I have gained quite a bit since the onset of summer[1]. I'm
also an advocate of "losing weight makes your bike go fast".
I've got a pdf now but a Haynes will be in the pipline if I come across
anything tricky that needs fixing although unlikely because it has a
    Yamaha 2 year warranty.

[1] Eating ice cream and going into cafes almost every day isn't
    helping, I'm sure.

They change them more frequently on tuned engines and they need
shimming more frequently on untuned ones than good old steel valves.

That's interesting. Any idea what is wearing/stretching/widening?

I've no idea. It's just something that I was warned about by someone
    who should know.

That's just the opposite of what I was told by a reputable Suzuki

It's what I was told by a reputable bike tuner but it might have only
    been relevant to a 10R.
