"It'll bark like a dog"

  1. Which is exactly what the bloke said my XT would sound like[1] with some
Akrapovic pipes on it after I mentioned the stifled popping and flame-
spitting from the overly silenced standard items.

    So I bought some.

Directly from the importers. Saved myself a bundle[2].

They will (should) be here tomorrow.

    Game on.

[1] And the noise I wanted.
[2] But spent quite a bit at the same time.

Next on the list is a K&N type filter and power commander.

I reckon I should just about eek out 60bhp with that lot on there.

    Muck says...
Gixer thous have 165bhp as standard with titanium valves and no-one
changes them when they tune the engines for racing, so I doubt a few
more bhp on WC's bike will make much difference to the valve's lifespan.

I have it on good authority (well, Ginge told me) that you can get 15bhp
    more without sacrificing reliability.

As for the valves, I have no idea; I've been Googling for the last three
weeks trying to find a service manual for it. I mean, they're on eBay,
so they must be on the web/internet somewhere!

I don't have limits. What I don't think is worth whinging about now,
I'll have a full-on rant about next week.

Not finding and keeping the perfect woman would be a good start.

I'll admit I was in the novice group, but whilst on the Mallory track
day, I did seem to accelerate up the arse of at least two litre bikes
when leaving the pit lane and then staying with them and overtaking a
    few round the corners.

The best bit was when they took me on the straights but I had my fun
when I nipped up the inside and took 'em all on the hairpin.
    No idea.

Taken from the manual (thanks PJ):

    1st 30/12 (2.500)
    2nd 26/16 (1.625)
    3rd 23/20 (1.150)
    4th 20/22 (0.909)
    5th 20/26 (0.769)

I have no idea what these values mean btw, I was just showing off that
    1) I now have the info and 2) I can put it on a NG or somewhere similar
    if somebody asks about it.
