    Hi,
How is the A10? I'm not even considering the M11...
Do you have other suggestions for a nice and relaxed ride from NW London to
    Cambridge?

    Grazie mille,
    F

    Shit IMHO
Very dull, but at least you get there and have more time for drinking.

    A414 to Hertford
B158 to Wadesmill then on to Standon
Through Standon to B1368 until it joins the A10 about a mile south of
    Cambridge.

How about A1 to Baldock, A505 to the A10 then depending on where in
    Cambridge?

Not bad, but how about through Standon on the A120 to Bishops Stortford,
B1383 North through to the A11, then A1307 into Cambridge?

If you're coming this way and fancy a bevvy, I can meet you anywhere on this
    route after BS.

Where in Cambridge do you want to be?

A10's fairly busy, and hilly south of Royston. The Breakthrough London
to Cambridge cycle ride (if they still run it) goes somewhat to the
east, though I forget the exact route. I do recall that it approaches
Cambridge via the A1301: there's one fairly busy roundabout to cross
the A505; quite a lot of the rest is B roads and passes through
various villages, I think. This might be more pleasant, especially if
there are decent pubs en route!

If you're going to be that close to it, you may as well take a detour
down the A507 Baldock to Buntingford road and pick up the A10 north
from there to Royston, just to experience the road that is known
    locally as 'The Alps'

D'oh. For some reason I had the idea that it was a cycle ride, so my
    reply was patently bollocks.

Actually, I'm considering both options... Well tomorrow (if SWMBO agrees)
is going to be by motorbike as the bicycle is currently completely
dismantled. Maybe next week I'll cycle it.

THANK YOU everybody for now, I'll let you know tomorrow evening.

Could also try the A1198 from Royston northwards towards Huntingdon.

  11. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Lozzo
They've just put some loose stone chippings down on the 507, between
Cottered and the A10. Not a huge stretch, and not the bit that's fun,
    but worth knowing about.
