Italy's Biaggi quits after Honda row
    January 12, 2006 - 10:42AM

Four-time world motorcycling champion Max Biaggi has quit MotoGP after
failing to patch up his differences with Honda, the 34-year-old
Italian has confirmed on his personal website.

Biaggi, who has been eclipsed by compatriot Valentino Rossi in recent
years, said he is now looking at competing in the World Superbike
Championships and is currently in talks with Kawasaki.

"I have been put in this terrible situation by Honda and as a
consequence I won't participate in MotoGP in 2006," he said.

"Now I am looking at superbikes. I have always appreciated this
category, I also have a few friends in there and they have all my
respect. So I am considering this opportunity as a very good one.

"The difficulties grow as time passes though, in light of the fact
that since December 15 we have been trying to reach an agreement with
    Kawasaki."

Biaggi's chances of seriously challenging Rossi last year were
scuppered by a broken leg in pre-season and he ended the campaign in
    fifth position.

Two second place finishes were his best results and he only made the
podium twice in the first seven races, six of which were won by Rossi.

Winge and complain. Like he always did.

When he was never able to beat Doohan in a fair fight he winged.
When he was on a non factory honda he complained that the bike sucked
and he he was only loosing cause of the bike.
When he went to the factory Yamaha ride he was complaining about the bike.
When he came back to Honda he was complaining it was the bikes fault he
    wasn't winning.
When he _finially_ got a repsol ride he actually shut the F up for a
couple of races (apparently cause his contract said he had to), then he
complained about the mechanics for a few races before he went back to
    complaining about the bike.

No F-ing wonder Honda made it clear that they wouldn't give bikes to
anyone who had him on staff....

Sure, he did well in 250s when the factory Aprilia was light years ahead
of the competition, but he's a prat who can't stand loosing and is
    apparently never to blame.

It'll be better without him. Bring on the new talent.
I hope he doesn't get the Suzuki SBK ride (which is still an unconfirmed
    rumor at this stage).

    :)

The latest AMCN suggests that Suzuki might pull out of Supersport and run a
second Superbike team with Foret and Biaggi...

Aye, and, in that capacity he'd probably spil the drinks and blame the
    tray... :-|

The _really_ annoying thing is, (like him or not) he can actually ride
really well, if he's in the mood and the star signs co-incide, or whatever.

I had a bet on another list:
Bet you lunch at the Paddo that Biaggi doesn't win more than 1 WSB race
    in 2006 :-!

    &
If Max gets the Suzuki ride, he (& Barros) will be nowhere near the top
3 at the end of the year.
They are MotoGP riders not souped up Proddie bike riders.
They'll do as well as McCoy did, when he went back to WSB.
They'll be lucky to finish in front of Bayliss, Corser ever & rarely in
    front of Haga.
I reckon Robbie Rolfo will do better than Max on a Superbike, because he
hasn't been spoilt & pampered by the MotoGP experience.

    Bummers
Or I'll eat my GSX swing arm!

    I'll take that bet Bummers!
Although I agree with the majority of your post I reckon he'll get a second
win (assuming he's on a "works" bike.)
    Clem
(Just TWO wins though; I'm not a total idiot!)

He lead the championship, winning his first race on a private non
    factory [unlike now]

Not a bad effort really, but yeah didnt move foward from that point and
then TheKing came on the stage and he nad no hope...
Yeah honda screwed him in the end, its his own fault, but unlike
TheKing who got them [honda] back a beauty and still continues to this
day to screw them and there army of riders right back

I am just glad i am around to witness the Greatest Rider EVER [Mail is
this will be his last year, although now they want him to win the first
    800cc Champioship on a Yamaha...]
Except he won one championship a honda 250cc one year, so that throws
    your argument out the window
    Its a done deal
