It would be *so* rude not to

Oh yes. Something like a Red Baron triplane, or a Flying Flea. Or a
    Wallace and Gromit sidecar....

That's nice of you to volunteer. Which one are you going to be?

Having seen the ads on tv I looked at the website a couple of weeks
ago but decided they're likely to ban anything I'd want to be involved
    with.

That being said, there are one or two on here who have actually experience
of controlling an aerial conveyance. We'll need every advantage we can get.

Well *done* that monotreme! It's good to know that the noble act of
volunteering for a suici^H^H^H^H^H challenging mission is not in the
    past.

OK, I'm thinking the Wallace and Gromit idea has merit.

Bike attached for the launch, then it stops and the sidecar (with
Intrepid Monotreme aboard) continues to soar to glory.

Artist. We need an artist to draw this for us. See the website for
ideas, and get to it you lot.

    Draw it, we'll build it.

  10. I'm not sure that stopping the bike, even from speed, would leave the
sidecar with enough energy to create sufficient launch. Some sort of
    propulsion needed methinks.

It'll have a farting monotreme aboard. We could give him a Zippo for
    emergency use.

I think that the bike and chair should separate at take-off, then the chair
deploy its wings. Whether this can be achieved before splashdown might be
    an interesting question.
I think that might contravene the rules.

  13. <shrug> if you say so, but with a short run up and a steep ramp, I
reckon you'll be lucky to get the SC to do much more than roll off the
    edge.
    Heh.

They need a 'jet' of some description and I reckon Platy knows how to
make one. All he needs to do is think about a youtube link he was sent
yesterday and then work out how to disguise it enough to get on the
    launch pad.
