You should have been paying attention here in Jan/Feb time.

No more barbies, I want a big Mac as far north as it's possible to get
    one.
    You know it makes sense.

    <suspicious>
I wonder if B was bribed to tip me over on a French street and make sue
    I broke something (else).

I discovered today that the Ulna is broken at the tip too. Good ol' NHS
hospital didn't even notice that despite multiple images and an op to
plate the radius/wrist. On the up side I now have added titanium bits
and the wrist repair is looking excellent.

If you don't already have private health insurance I suggest you get it
sorted. BUPA do a decent discount for IT Sector workers and their top
policy is costing me around £90/m.

While you "might" get a great surgeon/Consultant on NHS you can't easily
choose and you might not. What can't be argued is that private aftercare
is in a different league. Also I woke up to a multiple occupancy NHS
post op ward from ICU, you really do not want to be on one of those, and
they flatly refused to put me in a private room (I discharged myself).

I've just come back from seeing a consultant (1) at a private hospital
and the number of expensive cars with personalised plates made my
Yamaha look a bit tatty when I abandoned it in the car park.

It was nice not to have to pay for parking or a drink while I was
waiting but I suppose the cost of treatment means they can give a
    little bit away.

    (1) The bastard wants to mutilate my hands and had the cheek to tell
me that even though they'll look like spares for a Frankenstein
re-make (2) I'll still not have full movement in my fingers.

    (2) Yes, I know they already look like that but they'll be worse after
    he's chainsawed them.

TBF I didn't work the system correctly. Now I know how it works there will
be £5-10k worth of use this year.

You could have driven there in the posh family 4x4 though
The treatment costs are in line with what the NHS would spend to give the
same quality of treatment and care (if they bother)
But if you had the hands of an Archbishop people would assume you were some
    kind of Alien body snatcher

Bugger. But they'll work better, for longer, than with no surgery,
    presumably?

**** yes. I struggle to get bike gloves on at the moment otherwise I
wouldn't be bothering even though I know that the longer I leave it
the less movement I'll have after surgery.

I hate being laid up and even though it's short term compared to the
likes of yourself (and others) I'm not looking forward to it.

I suppose it'll give me time to sort out one or two jobs on the outfit
and I should be able to get dead good on the Wii because you can play
    that with one hand.

Bucketloads of morphine really fucked me up and made me somewhat irascible.
These codeine tablets are pretty good but make you sleepy and don't dull all
types of pain. Last night I tried adding Port, BIG mistake, I felt
    incredibly shit.

What is it with you cunts breaking so many bones?

I haven't known a similar list of injuries amongst my bike riding
friends since I was a teenager.

When i fucked my leg in Barbados a year or so ago, that was all they gave me
for the pain. Tons of it, i was utterly wankspannered for weeks.

I still have some for 'special' occasions :)

I can't see me wanting more than a few packets of Ibuprofen (heavy
duty ones) after a bit of cut 'n shut on my hands.

Adie had been hoping I'd have them done when she was away the week
before I've got the op scheduled for but I wasn't given that option.
I'm sure she thinks I'd sit around demanding beers all day but I'm
quite capable of lining them up on a table where I can reach them
    without any effort.

I was on the stuff for ages, and the main effect I found was that I
really couldn't apply myself to anything. Basically I couldn't really
give a toss. I guess I was also a but short-fused, but really I think
that was more down to the pain and tiredness than the drugs.
You know it just (effectively) converts to morphine in the body? So
it's just like that, only milder, hence not so effective.
Not recommended. When I was on the stuff I don't think I touched
    alcohol, TBH.
