OK, ive quit my position and the company is looking to replace me..

Problem is, the job is odd and is wide and varied..

So, any techies out there looking for a job?

    Brief overview is:

    Position Title: UK IT Manager

    Actual job spec:
Working for a computer game publisher, based west london.
Provide general desktop support for approx 30 users.
Provide server support for handfull of file/print server, look after
backups, perform general maintenance under control and guidance of head
    office.
Be the resident techy for all IT related questions/problems/queries. These
can be anything from looking after updates to the websites, to registering
domain names, converting video data to different formats.
Provide management and guidance to the tech support department (of one!).
Anything else the management deem to fall within your abilities/remit

    Requirements:
Flexibility. Although the job is an IT management position, the job is
basicly to provide tech support for the UK branch of the company. Approx
60% IT stuff, 40% other stuff (tech support, admin, report writing, fixing
    the AC systems etc...)
    Good knowledge of workstation installlation/troubleshooting
Good tech knowledge in general... you will be asked *everything* technical
by the staff. You will be the primary point of contact for all things tech
    related.

Anyway, if anyone is interested, drop me a mail at

    oh, that's what I do...
but that sounds nothing like my current job. I suspect the word
"manager" in the job title really ought to be "muppet".

There is nothing even remotely managerial about the role!

Well, the manager title is more of a CV thing really... although you *do*
manage all the IT, its not a typical IT managers job by any stretch.. in
actual fact, the position is so wide and varied, its almost impossible to
give it a relevant title...broad rather than deep is the phrase I think..
And it used to be a propper IT managers position, until the decision was
made to centralise all the resources at head office...so all the
    Exchange/SQL/SMS servers etc disapeered...

I'd suggest 'Senior Technician', given that there's one other person
reporting in, they could probably be a 'Technicaian.'

  17. Marshall did. Mindy ou, the pop of Europe were fed up and wanted some
peace by then, whereas the pop of Iraq were and are being supplemented
by cunts from over the borders, intent on mayhem, so a slight difference
in outcomes is to be expected.
