    ....whilst sneezing?

I'm feeling as rough as a badgers arse today (was in bed with flu-
symptoms all weekend) but to top it all off the last 3 or 4 times I've
sneezed (this hour) my neck has really hurt.. I can't think of a logical
reason why unless torn muscles are a possibility..

In the absense of a qualified doctor I thought I'd ask you idiots.

Quite possibly...if you tense your neck muscles and then a violent action
with your head you can strain/tear them - like any other muscle.

Does it hurt when you're not sneezing though?

and aren't joint pains part of being ill?

    It's kind of achey, yes.
Yep and I still have those to some extent, this isn't joint pain.

I'm going to neck a couple of co-codamol and see if it goes away. :)

You might have Sneezing Trauma Damage. Ring everyone you know, tell them you
have a possible STD and ask them for help.

Yes. You can tear any muscle and a sneeze is a very violent and involantary
    movement.
    Think strain rather than torn.

I've done it in the past when throwing snowballs, a burning pain down the
back of my neck, starting at the back of my skull (obviously just where
the tendons etc. join) - usually it went away after about half an hour or
    so.

Is that some euphemism for a particularly unpleasant sneeze?

Cool, that's good then. I really need to go into the office tomorrow to
sort some shit out so being able to turn my head whilst driving there
    would be a bonus.

I think I'll add an ibuprofen into the heady cocktail of pills, just to
    reduce chance of swelling.

Alternate hot and cold on the area using a hot water bottle and a bag of
    frozen peas.

No, it meant I was throwing a snowball when it happened.

Dunno, but my stepfather wrote off a car whilst sneezing.

If I'm ever in a car with him, I'll remember that. Thanks.

A train driver claimed to have wrote a train off (Morpeth, /again/ IIRC)
whilst sneezing. I think the inquiry thought sleeping more likely.

I will have to dig out "My Big Book of Train Crashes", or if anyone has a
copy of "Red for Danger" [1] they can check themselves.

[1] I recommend this book very highly, even for those without any
interest in railway history. There are no accidents.
