But you do have other transport, don't you, as in a car?

I worry about all of you.

I agree. Having taken a bike out in all weathers I now have the
necessary experience (or think I have) to make the judgements. Doesn't
stop me doing it though but it was a point I considered when I was
selling myself the concept of the mongvan.

I thought he borrowed the car he used to go to one of the osm's and
    didn't own a car himself.

  8. Well done, that non-pansy.

Since you got your fear of crashing over and done with courtesy of a
handy bend early on, I expect you'll be going on to greater things a
stage at a time. Before you know it, you'll be scaling the sides of
skyscrapers on sticky-tyred KTMs and traversing ravines on tightropes.

It's not just about you, is it - you can be as careful as you like, but the
amount of clueless cagers I've seen spun out etc., over the last few days...

More than usual down here in Kent... bloody stuff.
I'm glad he's in one piece.

Not so sure about the respect bit, although it would appear at least 'needs
must' applied to a certain extent.

JackH? He'z just ziz guy, you know?
So that'll be why when Mr Tiff N went to Iceland to play with an ABS
Jag he didn't stand a hope of avoiding all 3 obstacles on the ice/snow
run with ABS turned off, but with it turned on did it with no bother?

Sorry to piggyback, but a reply to Steve is perhaps warranted on this
    occasion.
I've no idea why you would think that, but in my, not insignificant,
experience of driving in snow, you couldn't be more wrong. At worst,
it'll do nothing; at best it will help regain grip on a 4-w-drift
    situation.

First time it happened to me was on the road up to Tignes, driving
from the UK in the days before I had snow tyres. I was absolutely,
definately, 100%, going to hit a signpost at the side of the road,
moving sideways as I was, so I thought, "Well, I might as well try the
brakes, as they can't make it worse." The result was nothing short of
miraculous, with drive becoming instantly available. Later experience
confirms that this was not a fluke.

    Your funeral.

    Ferger scribbled:
    Technically no, it wasn't.

It was what I like to think of as "the next (next, next, next)
generation of ABS" - ABS, traction control, anti skid. ABS extended to
cover all aspects of a vehicles movement, and what the wheels are
doing, and what they should be doing, and how to get them to be doing
    what they should be doing.

I find it absolutely fascinating from a technical point of view how the
modern systems work; when the computer recognises the momentum of the
car isn't going in the direction it should be, did they do "maths" to
work out what to do with the power/braking on each wheel to get it
under control or trial and error or computer modelling?
