That'll be because ABS is mostly a PITA in the snow, for small values of
    'worse'.

<parks up the one car in the household with ABS, and gets one of the
primative, non ABS equipped ones out>

I came along the A421 through Milton Keynes around 10.30/11am, looked
like a very light dusting and it certainly wasn't snowing at the time,
about 0.5C. Although about 30mins after I left my folks, it was
snowing pretty hard, apparently. I must have just beaten it across the
country. There was snow there when I woke up but it was only covering
    the road in the village.

Icing sugar visible to about Chipping Norton, after that it just
looked like it's rained. Tp temp of about 1.5C.

The first image has had a 'fill flash' added afterwards. Both images
    were sharpened before resizing.

I wrote over the original ones in my web space with the doctored
versions as I airbrushed out the car registration plate of the vehicle
behind (it's not mine) as the owner probably wouldn't like it on the
    internet.

The completely un-doctored image is at:
    http://hayn.gotadsl.co.uk/bike/snow1orig.jpg which weighs in 1.1Mb

As you can see it needed a bit of attention before publication which I
happily gave it. It was difficult to get a good focus on it in the
dark, but I did my best and messed with it quickly afterwards.

I'll be walking to work tomorrow if it's going to snow again, four
miles. Or I could try it on the bike, pushing it where needed and
then riding it on the flat.

The thing is, nomatter which way one tries to get into Saltwood it's
on the top of a steep hill and even a four-wheel drive car can't seem
    to manage it.
