Trace the cables or use something like www.samspade.org

I'm sure most people would dispute it, because you're wrong. Tracert
resolves the destination IP, displays it, then shows the route. Cut &
paste from a command window:

D:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>tracert 65.127.124.62

over a maximum of 30 hops:

 

but I didn't claim traceroute finds domain names - I used tracert - one
of the first things it does is resolve the domain name by a DNS lookup.
