    Bear says...
There's no getting away from the fact that the Gixer is quicker in a
straight line, even in top gear roll ons etc. I pitched mine against a
mate's Gixer Thou and he was faster all over the shop, and my 9R wasn't
    a slow one.

Aye the money they spend shouts "fuel smuggling" TBH but I'm sure they
    are all terribly legit......

£14,000 And the FI isn't too good by their account. Which is why it placed
    5th.....

Ah. Maybe, then. I'm not doing Reading this year, though I may be
moving around then so it could get interesting.

But having looked at a map not-long-ago and seen just how it is
(when compared to somewhere like bolivia, say) I'm more than
    tempted.

MVs always seem to place badly in UK bike mag tests, unless conducted
by freelance journos, whereas in German & Italian tests they usually do
very well - make of that what you will...

Re the FI, the 1000s have a system to reduce the throttle response at
low RPM (below 3000 iirc) to make for a smoother take-up. This makes
them particularly dependant on having the FI setup properly, & we all
know where the UK MV demo bikes come from, don't we.

It is something that takes a bit of getting used to, but get used to it
you do - or at least the several people I know who have one certainly
did, despite hating it initially & thinking there was something wrong
    with the bike.

    The latter.
I've finally finished getting mine out of winter hibernation so need to
sort out keeping my promise to Champ. If you happen to be in the
vicinity at the time, I'm sure something can be arranged. You would of
course need insurance which I presume you don't have at the moment?

There is a huge black economy here, when folk get it in tax free cash
they are more prone to divvy it out.
