Or crossroads. On that northern detour round Cambrai, I saw a Mitsubishi Warrior approaching from the right. "Does he have priority, or me?" "He doesn't appear to be slowing down, but I'm sure it's me" "He still hasn't slowed down, it must be him" Cue Warrior across the bows at around 40mph. Check roadmarkings. Nothing on my bit of road, solid white line on his. Ho hum. Good job I don't know my French Highway code, I guess. -- | ___ Salad Dodger |/ \ _/_____\_ GL1500SEV/CBR1100XXX/KH500A8/TS250C |_\_____/_| ..75073../..18420.../..3184./.19406 (>|_|_|<) TPPFATUICG#7 DIAABTCOD#9 YTC#4 PM#5 |__|_|__| BOTAFOT #70 BOTAFOF #09 two#11 WG* \ |^| / IbW#0 & KotIbW# BotTOS#6 GP#4 \|^|/ ANORAK#17 IbB#4 '^' RBR Landmarks: 12 Pts: 220 Miles: 914
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Salad Dodger I protest! I doubt I lurched more than 0.43 of a lane during that carefully planned and executed manoeuvre. It might have been a bit more if said pillion had been forthcoming in the arse massage department, it must be said. -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - Manufacturer of the "Champion-105" range of rearsets and Ducati Race Engineer. I'm going. So's Cab. But I'm meeting him at the track as I'm taking the c*r. Don't know if anyone else is going or not... Dave
I've had two ZX9R-C1 and one GSXR1000K1. My mate swampy has a K4 and brother has an 04 RSV-R with race pipes and factory tune. My current ZX9 has a full titanium Akropovic and dynojet kit. I would say it has raised the power from a standard 126 BHP to somewhere around 140 BHP. Well down on the K1 or K5. This power increase is also well up in the rev range. The K1 / K4 will his the limiter much quicker than the ZX9 will hit the same speed. However the Acropovic ZX9 is not limited and will go a tad faster. Both bikes are faster top end than the RSV although that IIRC makes approx 138BHP. The GSXR1000 has loads more poke in the mid range...
Oh, yes, I noticed everyone who came past - about a dozen. You'll be pleased to know that no-one came as close as you, or up the inside. -- | ___ Salad Dodger |/ \ _/_____\_ GL1500SEV/CBR1100XXX/KH500A8/TS250C |_\_____/_| ..75073../..18420.../..3184./.19406 (>|_|_|<) TPPFATUICG#7 DIAABTCOD#9 YTC#4 PM#5 |__|_|__| BOTAFOT #70 BOTAFOF #09 two#11 WG* \ |^| / IbW#0 & KotIbW# BotTOS#6 GP#4 \|^|/ ANORAK#17 IbB#4 '^' RBR Landmarks: 12 Pts: 220 Miles: 914
One of the mags did a full engine strip down using a tuning house. They were *mildly* surprised at the level of sophistication they found. 'Hog
The RSVR is quicker than a modified ZX9R when road legal pipes are replaced opn RSVR. The 1000 K3 will creap past. Most people find the RSVR much quicker than expected. Most bikes I have gone flat out against do not get anywhere near there claimed top end. I think only that is possible with race leathers (not nilons). Any ZX9R is no match for a K3...
You want to know what cuts the mustard? just look at the Irish Prod Road Race results. Aprilia? nowhere in the results. Gixxer Thou? rocks the world. Only thing making regular competition in 2004 was the new R1. I think 2005 is going to be the year of the K5 (1) (1) uttered on 050505 'Hog
IIRC they looked as if they were going to be everywhere but proved a bit unstable for RR in proddy form. TBH I'd forgotten about them and of course Farquar tamed one to a win in the UGP Prod 1000 and McGuinness took a 2nd in the Superbike. Ooops <blush> Still no steenkin' Aprilia's though. Cookstown 100 is just passed and it was v.wet which levels out things *a lot*. All seemed to be in with a chance and Britten is riding the new Blade it appears. There was a bollocks at the start of the senior though when the heavens opened and a lot of top riders didn't think 5 minutes was long enough to change tyres and dropped out. I suspect that the Gixxers would be mostly K4's yet though. Aprilia baiting aside it's going to be a *really* interesting season. 'Hog
I agree. A thou V twin is no match for a 1000cc straight four on the race track. I do not even know if Ducati will be competitive again... I did test ride the Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha back in April 2004 before testing the Aprilia. To me the jap thou's power bands are getting more and more like 600's every year. You have to rev the nuts of em... I had not riden a V twin before. But it seemed much more fun on the road, Bembo and other OEM kit, and of course it looks like pure sex...
I was specifically not referring to racetracks of course. IRR is run on closed public roads. If you think they are peaks and like 600's ride a K1-K4 GSXR1000. Hoooge fookin' man eating torque monsters for 2000rpm to the red line. I double checked this last night. Sorry Loz ) 'Hog
